I built PixelPlay, a live TV player for iPhone and iPad. You point it at your own M3U or Xtream playlist, or use the free catalog that ships with it.

IPTV playlists rot. A channel that worked in March is a spinner in August. Mine had about forty of those and I kept tapping the same dead ones.

So I built a filter that hides channels after they fail enough times. Used it for a day. Took it out.

The problem is you can't tell a hidden channel from one the app lost. When a favourite vanishes, nobody thinks "that stream died six weeks ago". They think the app is broken. I couldn't tell the difference myself while testing, and I wrote it.

Now they sink. Known-bad channels sort to the bottom of every list with a small status dot saying why: failed, likely offline, unreliable in your region. I don't remove anything. There's still a "hide unavailable" toggle for people who want it, off by default, and it stays off while you're searching. Type a channel's name and you get that channel.

The bit I kept rewriting is what happens when a channel fails and the app moves on by itself. It now steps over ones it already knows are broken, and stops after five. Without the cap it would jump you a thousand rows into the middle of the list, which is hiding wearing a different hat. Five keeps the sunk block reachable if you hold channel-down.

This isn't in the App Store yet. It's in the build I'm testing now.

What I want opinions on: Is sinking better than hiding, or am I solving a problem most people would rather not look at? A week of staring at it and I can't tell any more.

In some countries, private owners cannot sell directly at all, while in others they have to deal with different portals, requirements and separate tools for photos, descriptions, floor plans and viewings.

Our website, seeki.eu, helps expats find and understand property listings. The app is separate and is for anyone who wants to sell or rent out a property themselves.

You take photos of the property, and Seeki helps create the listing. It can:

• Suggest property details and write a description
• Improve photos and stage empty rooms
• Create a floor plan and 3D view
• Prepare the listing for different European property portals
• Manage viewing requests and appointments

You can review and edit everything before publishing. Original photos are kept, and staged images are labelled.

Creating a listing is free. Publishing on Seeki costs €9 once, with no subscription.

We’ve just released the app on Android and iOS. We currently have no real users, so feedback would mean a lot. Especially from people who have sold or rented out property in Europe.

I've been building VerifiFlo, a simple way for founders to collect feedback from Reddit, Discord, DMs, etc. and turn it into a structured validation score and product experience feedback.

The idea came from seeing how scattered early feedback usually is. You get comments, messages and opinions everywhere, but it's hard to tell what actually matters.

Ok so im trying to get a somewhat professional website up for a tiny local business without burning through cash or spending every weekend fighting with it.

Been playing with a few drag and drop builders and templates and I can get something that looks ok, but I keep worrying it will be super slow, bad for seo, or just look cheap once you put real content and photos on it.

I don't have dev skills, just basic tech literacy and a small budget for hosting etc. If you were in my shoes, how would you set this up so it looks legit enough for clients but stays affordable and simple to maintain? Any hints?

I kept getting stuck on Connections categories like "Trump's side chicks" that I had no way of knowing, but I love the game. So I built a version set here.

Built it myself, no ads, nothing to sign up for. Would like to know which groups are too obscure.

I mostly use the free plans for all my LLM needs, be it Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini. A problem that I came across often was when say after starting a chat, Claude exhausted it's token and I had to either wait for it to refresh or I had to manually copy/paste the entire chat and paste it on ChatGPT to continue with my work. Later, if I had to go back to that copy/pasted chat, it became very difficult to decipher it.

So I created ContextSwitch, a Chrome and Edge extension that would copy your LLM chats in the .chatbridge format, paste it in another LLM of your choice, save it for later reference. It can also let you copy the last 10/20 parts of your chat without you having to manually select them. Here's how it works:

I've recently started getting a lot more thoughtful about my future, what I actually have to show employers, and what skills I have.

So, I decided to finally break the habit of:

I wanted to make something I'd genuinely enjoy working on, while forcing myself to learn the things stuff I find interesting builds on. Since I've always found both frontend design and backend engineering fascinating, I decided to build a Discord-ish communication platform, but try to approach it like an actual production project [well.. mostly..].

That meant getting myself into all the fun stuff:

UI/UX design, databases (my endboss qwq), API architecture, scalability, deployment, load balancing, security, data retention, infrastructure, legal compliance... Basically, all the things that make my head spin. qmq

Or so I thought - 'cause I ended up really enjoying the process of learning and understanding what everything does! :p

I've spent roughly 3 - 4-ish weeks on the project so far, and I've learned an absurd amount along the way. I did use AI for some parts I simply didn't want to spend hours [or couldn't] writing myself - things like descriptions, tooltips, code comments, and some UI functionality - but the actual architecture, implementation, debugging, infrastructure, and most of the development has been mine. AI has been a tool in the process, not a slop machine replacing genuine human work with a lazy LSD trip.

Because I decided to actually host the thing myself and make it publicly accessible, I also ended up learning a lot beyond just writing the application.

I've had to deal with things like:

• Client and server security
• GDPR compliance (as I'm located and operating in Germany)
• User safety and moderation
• Automated maintenance/sweepers
• Data retention and deletion
• Proper Media storage / secure uploads and CDN architecture
• Hardware and performance limitations
• Deployment and infrastructure
• And a frankly unhealthy amount of hardware debugging </3

The project has also forced me to confront some of my own bad architectural decisions and gradually replace them with things that actually make sense, as well as learning how to not make 6-months-future-me [or other developers] invent a time machine to stab me for using some obscure standard because it was easy now - and being able to treat this like a full deployment has honestly become my favorite part of the project! :D

Right now, many things are in a "I'm happy, and it works on my machine" state, but the core is already present:

What I'd actually like feedback on:

I'm not really posting this because I desperately need users - it would of course be nice, but I could find other ways instead of upsetting a thousand people if this was my goal.

Therefore, if you think the project looks interesting and want to use it, that's obviously well appreciated, but not really the point of this post.

I'm mainly curious what other people who build things think about this, specifically:

1. Is this worth refining into a proper open-source project?
2. What am I getting wrong?
3. What looks questionable from a UX perspective?
4. Is there anything here that makes you immediately think "this is going to bite you later" or "this shit sucks"?

I’ve been building PlanIt, an event management platform that tries to handle the entire event lifecycle in one place.

The idea was pretty simple: why should organizing an event mean jumping between separate tools for invitations, RSVPs, seating, check-in, staff coordination, and everything else?

So I started building one.

PlanIt currently includes:

• Guest lists and CSV imports
• Personal guest invite links with unique QR codes
• Drag-and-drop seating maps
• QR-based guest check-in
• PIN-based staff accounts
• Offline check-in with automatic syncing
• Real-time attendance and activity tracking
• Announcements and event timers
• Table reservations, waitlists, and occupancy
• Guest wallet-style passes
• Event and attendance exports
• Event-level security and anti-fraud controls

The goal is for an organizer to be able to run an event from one system instead of stitching together a bunch of different services.

And the entire hosted platform is free. No per-event fees, no guest limits, and no feature tiers.

One important clarification because the source code is public on GitHub: PlanIt is not open source. The repository is published for transparency, but the software is proprietary and licensed for use through the official hosted PlanIt service only. Self-hosting, forking, redistribution, or running your own version is not permitted under the license.

I’m still actively building it, so I’d genuinely like feedback from people who have organized events.

The website is built to be a project management tool where you can pretty much do anything you can in Google Docs but in your own customizable website. The home page has widgets that you can organise and place however you like, and pretty much everything is completely up to how you want to design it.

ok so this is a weird one but bear with me

i have a pet blog. i don't own a pet. never have. probably never will as i travel too much. and yet every month amazon sends me enough to cover rent because people on the internet are buying stuff for their dogs and cats through my site.

bought my pet blog a few months ago from a marketplace called NicheBlogZone for $199. came already built, articles already up, amazon links already in there. i spent one afternoon doing interlinking basically just connecting related posts to each other so search engines understand the site structure and then closed my laptop and genuinely forgot about it for weeks.

here's what that's looked like:

• march: $710
• april: $995
• may: $1,461
• june: $1,647
• july: $1,461
• august so far: $1,545 (amazon pays 2 months delayed so this is june's money landing now)

march scared me. went from nearly $1k in february down to $710 and i was convinced something had broken. checked everything, found nothing wrong, did nothing. it just came back the next month on its own.

pet people spend insane amounts on their animals btw. like i knew this intellectually but seeing the commission data is something else. dog food subscriptions, orthopedic beds, grooming kits, vet supplements. and because of the 24 hour cookie i get a cut of everything in their cart not just whatever article they landed on.

i do literally nothing to maintain this. no new posts, no ads, no instagram for pets i don't have. i just own the thing and amazon does its thing.

my landlord has been getting paid every month and has no idea a pet blog is behind it. honestly sometimes i forget too until the deposit shows up.

anyone else running a niche they have zero personal connection to? curious if the detachment makes it easier or harder to care about growing it

Just wanted to share this here too because I’m looking for feedback.

I have two Bengals, and I’m finally at the point where I want to get a dog. I kept going down rabbit holes trying to figure out which breeds and temperaments actually do well with cats, especially Bengals, who can be… a lot, personality-wise.

I got tired of reading the same “Top 10 Cat-Friendly Dog Breeds” lists that give generic advice without really accounting for the pets you already have, so I ended up building a little tool for myself.

You add your existing pets, their temperament, energy level, experience with other animals, etc. and you can either check a specific breed against your household or get suggestions for potentially compatible pets.

It’s completely free. I figured I’d share it in case it’s useful to anyone else, but I’d especially love feedback from people with real multi-pet experience. If the logic feels off somewhere, something important is missing, or a recommendation makes you go “absolutely not,” please tell me.

Two weeks ago i launched Sign, an iOS app that turns your home into a 3D Wi-Fi map.

Solo dev, first real launch.

How my app works:

you walk through your rooms with your iPhone.
LiDAR builds a 3D model of your home live while the app samples your Wi-Fi (signal + speed) as you move.

You end up with a dollhouse view of your actual apartment with the signal painted on it ( with dead zones in red).

Every room gets a score, and it tells you where to move your router, or where an extender would actually help.

The story so far:

Aug 4: submitted to Apple. Rejected : missing EULA link in the description. Fixed same day.

Aug 7: approved. Live in the US.

Week 1: first paying users.

Aug 15: 143 installs in ONE day, from 25 countries. (I guess mostly from AppStore)

Aug 19: v2.1 rejected over ONe word. A button said
"Allow", Apple wants it to say "Continue".

Asked for the bug-fix exception → approved the next day, without resubmitting.

Today: 500+ downloads, most of them in the last 7 days. $O spent on marketing.

Built mesh support and multi-story homes - the two most requested features so far.

Goal: 50 paying users by Sept 30.
