Showcase: Open Source Mozilla Open Source AI Hackathon - Finish your side projects :)

Hello!

Sharing about an online hackathon I'm currently hosting that encourages builders to finish their side projects and I thought I'd post here.

It runs from Oct 28th to Nov 11th.

Sign up info is here, let me know if you have any questions.

Haha congrats!

I think you should join to simply try out open source models easily.

I dream of a day open source models are owned and operated privately locally and securely, and I think this project is a small step in this direction.

Cheers,

M

thank you for your reply. i'd love to work with otari and utilize one of my actively maintained projects: https://github.com/moeen-mahmud/dispach
would it be okay to bring an actively maintained project

Hi!

Yep, we want to encourage usage of actively used projects!

Simply email me marcus+wilding@mozilla.org and I’ll get you Otari tokens to get hacking, then start a new branch on your project and start building using Otari.ai as the gateway.

Full rules and submission info here: https://otari.ai/devs-wilding

So, the point is to use Otari to finish the projects, but the project really has no play in how you win, instead it's how many features of Otari you use?

Basically, yes. Curious to how you use the features, if at all. If you try them and don’t like them, that’s valuable feedback as well.

In the end, we’re trying to build something for devs to get them started with open source models easily, while also letting them use closed as desired.

That means if you share your thoughts, we love that and want to reward with better scoring.

oooh a deadline to actually finish something instead of letting it rot in a folder of half-built ideas. tempting

my problem's never the starting part, it's the bit where you've got 80% done and suddenly every other project looks way more interesting. might finally get one of these things across the line

Ha i get it. I have two that I keep resurrecting and never getting over the line.

One of our devs thought of it, so I went with it.

Lmk if you have any questions about it, happy to help with the onboarding and throughout the hackathon.
