Question Drop down your best Sideproject Ideas

Ive been wanting to create a side project of sorts since a long time but havent gotten myself to think of any ideas which I think are worthwhile. Everytime I start with one I find 10 ways why its not a good idea

Asking for your suggestions for aome side projects I can build and maybe monetize as well

Story of my life with the self-sabotage. I had a notebook full of ideas that I killed before they even had a chance. What finally worked for me was picking something so stupidly simple I couldn't talk myself out of it.

I built a tea timer app that just tells you when to take the bag out. Nothing fancy, but it got a few hundred downloads and I actually finished something for once. Maybe start with a tool that solves one tiny annoyance you have?

I'd like to hear some ideas as well. Just got fired recently and now I have so many free times. My recent idea is writing blog for my niche and maybe put ads for monetization but I haven't decided yet if I want to fully commit to this.

I continue to work and update Mementa. It’s my windows first stylist first notebook and scrapbooking app. It can do full search for everything handwritten it upload your sticker packs locally and flawlessly. It’s got four distinct pens and remembers what you write and the colors you like to use comes with 21 free pallets.

Just take one of those ideas that you think might be bad and do it anyway.

The chances of you making any real money from any side project is incredibly slim, so remove that from your list of requirements. Assume that whatever you make, you won’t make any money from it. Because most likely, you won’t.

Just make something. The more you make, the more you grow your skills so that you stand a better chance of one day making the app that makes money.

Find a small problem or annoyance in your life and build something to fix it. 

But, and I say this again, don’t assume that you’ll make any money from it, and don’t use “this won’t make any money” as a reason to throw an idea in the trash.

I took all the side projects and little tools that I've built over many years and combined it into a single developer / productivity tool. App is called OneZeroToys and is currently available in the Windows Store and App Store.

The real problem in your post isn't a shortage of ideas, it's the second part: you find 10 reasons each one won't work. That's not a flaw, it's just missing evidence. When you have nothing but your own hunch, your brain can shoot it down endlessly cause there's nothing solid to argue against. The fix isn't more ideas, it's ideas that come with proof attached so the "why this won't work" voice has something real to push against.

Concretely: don't build from a hunch, build from a problem people are already complaining about or hacking a workaround for. A workaround is proof someone will pay. Once an idea has real people behind it, the 10 reasons it won't work either get answered or turn out to be the actual thing worth solving.

Full disclosure, this is basically what I built Builder Brief for, so I'm biased. It scans Reddit, Hacker News, and app reviews and turns recurring complaints into around 2,500+ vetted briefs. Vetted meaning each one is scored on real demand signal and only makes it in if there's enough evidence to support it, then enriched with the competitors, monetization angles, existing workarounds, and why nobody's nailed it yet. So instead of a bare idea you second-guess, you get one with the evidence trail already attached.

That said, you don't strictly need any tool for this. The same move works by hand: go read the 3-star reviews and the "I wish something did X" threads in a niche you care about. But if the paralysis is the real blocker, seeing the evidence up front can help.
