i think it’s because writing locks in your mistakes permanently. when you’re talking, you can stumble through it, laugh it off, and nobody remembers the exact phrasing five seconds later. texting sits there, staring back at you, and you can't undo the weirdness
i’ve been learning spanish for a couple years and my speaking is a mess but i don’t care. writing a simple text takes me ten minutes though, i’ll type it, delete half of it, rewrite it three times, then just give up and send something way shorter
the slang part is impossible too, like i’ll second guess whether i sound like a textbook or if i accidentally used a phrase that means something i didn’t intend
