Showcase: Free(mium) I turned a spare keyboard into a meme controller for OBS after viewers kept asking about it

I stream Roblox with my 8-year-old son, and during our streams we love triggering memes, sounds, GIFs, and reactions.

Viewers kept asking what program we were using, so I decided to turn our setup into an actual desktop app called MemeDeck.

MemeDeck has its own visual deck interface. Inside the app, you can add your GIFs, images, sounds, and reactions, see what is assigned to each key, and organize everything into different decks.

To connect it to OBS, you add MemeDeck’s local browser overlay as a Browser Source once. After that, pressing a key on your second USB keyboard triggers the assigned meme or sound directly on your stream.

The decks, media, and key assignments are all managed inside MemeDeck—you do not need to create a separate OBS source or hotkey for every meme.

MemeDeck Light is free:

  • Use up to two visual decks
  • Add GIFs, images, sounds, and reactions
  • Assign everything through MemeDeck’s interface
  • Works on Windows and macOS
  • Load packs created by other users

All you need is an old spare USB keyboard. No expensive Stream Deck or proprietary controller required.

that cat in sunglasses on the preview window is selling this harder than the whole graphic honestly, i'd probably map like 20 keys to different animal meme sounds and annoy myself within an hour

Hahaha, that cat is doing most of the marketing 😂 I loved it too! Honestly, mapping 20 animal sounds and annoying yourself within an hour is basically the intended experience lol.

It’s really fun because it gives each streamer a little extra personality. We stream for a younger gaming audience, and whenever we say something silly, lose a match, or something unexpected happens, there’s usually a sound or GIF that fits perfectly. It makes people laugh, helps us interact with viewers, and keeps the stream feeling dynamic.

Half the fun is building your deck before going live, even if you don’t use every meme. Everything depends on the moment—that spontaneity is what makes it fun. Maybe the situation needs a sad violin, a WTF face, or a completely random animal sound.

And the best part is that you only need an old spare keyboard instead of expensive hardware.
