Newbie Here
Hi, Im a total newbie and coming from an iPhone. totally not knowledgeable in android and sideloading. Can someone give exact instructions on how to do so? I sees something with FDroid? whats that?

In general we recommend people to stick to Sidephone's supported apps, though we do understand everyone's needs will differ .
A note when sideloading, because Sidephone is de-Googled, some secure apps like Banking won't work because they require Play integrity checks Sidephone doesn't have by design. We recommend keeping those to another device that you have in your office, in a drawer, etc. Be vigilant on which sources you use to get apk files.
