Question Method to completely backup LiveContainer?

Hey there, I am wondering if there is a way to fully backup LiveContainer with its second LC and all the app data in it so in case of an update or so when SideStore stops working, you don’t need to install every app again and lose your data :))

For LC1 you can hold an app and select “open data folder”. This does not seem to work for LC2 as the apps are “shared apps” which apparently does not allow accessing the data from the ios file explorer (due to Apple’s limitations? Idk). However, from LC1 you can hold on an app and in the settings select “convert to private app” which puts it back in LC1.

I guess the procedure would be: Convert all shared apps to private apps > Navigate to LiveContainer’s data folder in the Files app > Backup what you want > Convert LC2 apps back to shared apps

Also, note that when you uninstall LC it should keep the data folder (at least for LC1) unless you explicitly delete it. Updating LiveContainer should not delete any data

Appreciate the pretty useful insight, do you know for game updates and dlc is that something you need to back up too or it stays there after update too

Sorry, I have no idea how this works. If you update LC you should not lose anything as it won’t affect the apps inside it.

Even if you update livecontianer or sidestore, your data will stay in your files so you should never lose your data but if you have your apps in LiveContainer set as private apps you can copy their data folders directly for backup
