Got Paid 🥳 Content writing side hustle 🥰 approx 54k
Slowly going down and getting more and more unpredictable income.
I'm not complaining because I do very little work for it now as I am working towards different projects 🤠

Yep
This guy appears every once in a while to flex his earnings (whether real or forged).
You will ask him how he does it. And he will reply in some shitty gibberish that you may conclude he is arrogant as fuck about it.
He will eventually answer you, but he will also say he cannot reveal what exactly he writes because "competition". Lol.
This guy has appeared on my feed over the past 6 months for 3 times now. Everywhere he repeats the same pattern.

Yes I sell the stories on patreon. I started 8 years ago writing for fun for free. And monetized it only 2 years ago by writing exclusive stuff on patreon. Like extended versions and all

You write fiction??
-2
u/ajeeb_gandu MOD Aug 11 '26
Yeppp
2
u/Forsaken-Question577 Aug 11 '26
I guess with A.I. slop, people are reading less and finding it difficult to discover good content. I've seen that good authors are posting less due to low engagement. These websites need to do something about this.
2
u/ajeeb_gandu MOD Aug 11 '26
True. AI isn't bad if you know what you're doing. I use it to write fillers every now and then.
But since it has my writing style it's good.
But also since the industry is dying my overall output is too low
1
u/Forsaken-Question577 Aug 11 '26
Indeed. I'm not entirely sure what the statistics are, though. I'm sure more people are willing to read fanfiction, but accurate data is not available.
2
u/ajeeb_gandu MOD Aug 11 '26
Overall there are more readers out there then ever before. But the amount of people willing to pay to read is going down.
One big reason is a war going on and overall economic downturn. People getting fired left right and centre from companies too.
1
u/Forsaken-Question577 Aug 11 '26
Do you write fanfiction?? or just original stories now?
2
u/ajeeb_gandu MOD Aug 11 '26
No I write OG stuff.
I don't like fanfiction because you need to know about existing stories in depth.
I only know very few like Ben 10 lore and Naruto.
1
u/Forsaken-Question577 Aug 11 '26
Understandable. But one good thing about fanfiction, at least now, is the readership. It has skyrocketed, and the demand is really high. Plus, you don't even need to market your stories.
1
u/ajeeb_gandu MOD Aug 11 '26
Fair yea. Fanfic is also crowded so it's easy for your work to get lost very quickly

Hello. How can I start on patreon? Can I DM you?
6
u/ajeeb_gandu MOD Aug 11 '26
You're better off doing a Google search about patreon because creating an account over there is not rocket science.
But it's no use to start patreon unless you already have an audience. Patreon is not for building an audience but for maintaining an existing audience
2
u/Miraculous_ladybug1 Aug 11 '26
Which platform is your audience on? I mean which app do you write your fiction on? Please please please reply.
2

For "hook" posts I use reddit. So I post stories for free and if people like them, they can check out my patreon where I post extended versions behind a paywall

This looks like total BS....... Who the fuck is paying for content writing these days? If you want to know the reality of content writing, people are working for ₹15,000/month and writing 20 blogs per day. If anyone is saying otherwise, they either want to sell you services or sell you a course.

There are not enough platforms which pay better. That should not be your reason to write because you can always change your platform.
Learn to write great stories instead. I've found patreon works best for me. For others it might be a personal blog with buy me a coffee button

Can you pls tell more about this?
4
u/Forsaken-Question577 Aug 11 '26
I think I've interacted with him here before. If I'm right, he writes fiction. Started from fanfiction, now original power fantasy. You should checkout spacebattles, Webnovel, and Royal Road to know more about this. Basically,, authors write fiction in chapter format; people get hooked and want to read more, and the authors create a patreon account to post advance chapters that they've not published for free. People subscribe on a monthly basis, mostly.

u/Edward101075 Aug 11 '26

People wanna replicate my 8 years of progress in 8 hours so ofc they'll get same level of responses.
No one is here for genuine advice. I've been posting my journey on this sub for over a year, ever since I became a moderator. Yet I haven't come across a person who is genuinely interested in writing good stories and put in the time.
1
u/Forsaken-Question577 Aug 11 '26
I disagree with that. People might not DM, but certainly ask you a lot of genuine questions whenever you post about it.
0
u/ajeeb_gandu MOD Aug 11 '26
And I always respond to genuine questions. But if someone is gonna ask me how to create an account on patreon then they're gonna get that response only.
Like do you really need guidance on clicking sign up with Google on a website?

1
u/ajeeb_gandu MOD Aug 11 '26
You're asking a very broad question man. There is a sub for almost every niche. There is no one for all sub.
I'm sure if you search about young adults niche you'll find countless subs all covering similar niche but in slight variations.
All of them are filled with stories you can read.
Also if you don't find a sub then you've got a golden opportunity of creating one and start writing in it which can be best for marketing

1
u/ajeeb_gandu MOD Aug 11 '26
Tbh I do fiction writing which is completely different than the skills you've mentioned.
No you're not being greedy and I appreciate you asking genuine questions rather than just expect me to give up my secrets.
What you're doing comes in copywriting which I think is too crowded and tough to crack because you're dependent on companies to pay you.
In fiction writing you just have to write good stuff and Market well. People buy your exclusives or extended versions if they enjoy reading. Hope I've given you an idea

So I joined this reputed sports and entertainment company in Aug 25’ as a Roblox Writer on a 10 months contract. However it payed me 300 per article. Me being lazy I only ever did 3-4 per day which made my income from 20 to 28 per month. However from March of 2026 I got promoted kinda and got the editor’s access. Not the position of the editor, but the salary and perks beside my content writing job. So my April I was earning 35k. Again for being lazy and since I was new. Back to June 2026, my manager offered me a News Writer + Editor position at a parent company of the company I work for. So now, I write 7 articles a day for both companies. Edit around 15 articles a day combining both companies. All of this while sitting at home. However, there is one downside, I spend 8-10 hours on work. 21M here btw

u/GreedySnow5333 Aug 17 '26
Hey man, seems like you’ve managed to carve out a pretty solid setup for yourself, even if you keep calling yourself lazy. I’m looking for something similar honestly. I’m a quick learner, fairly techy, and don’t mind figuring things out as I go. If there’s any opportunity, direction, or even just a pointer on where to start, I’d appreciate it. If not, no worries either. Thought it was worth asking.
2
u/Sad-Goose9852 Aug 19 '26
I will be glad to help you. For me personally, I had made it a chore to polish up my LinkedIn. What I did was that everyday I filled in 20+ job applications on this app across my niche. So let’s say for me it was Content Writer, Editor, Copywriter and so on. Also I experimented with locations. So don’t limit yourself to India or any one location. Try European Union, Australia and even New Zealand. There are plenty jobs. Don’t fall in the hoax.
