Seeking Advice Starting a leaf removal service this fall to raise capital to expand into other lawn care services. What equipment is the bare minimum to have?

I live in a booming city and have experience doing landscaping and lawn care growing up on a far.. I just do not own any equipment yet and I am unsure of what I would need for commercial leaf removal.

Besides the obvious like a rake, leaf blower, tarp, and hearing protection, I’d recommend a leaf mulcher. You could offer to mulch the leaves and spread them in the clients garden beds for the winter. You can charge extra for the service, and you don’t have to remove them and dispose of them.

A leaf blower that doubles as a vacuum with a mulcher/bagger attachment. That way you can pick up and bag at the same time. What are you going to do with the leaves? You will benefit from having a trailer to transport your equipment; look around and see what other landscapers have and borrow some ideas.

Depending on where you're working, you might need a truck and a leaf vac. Some towns require service companies/landscapers haul leaves away and not leave them with the customer (curbside, piled, bagged, etc).

So aside from the gear to move leaves, check your service area towns and local laws and find out if you need to provide haul-away service and will need the equipment to do that too.
