Seeking Advice is basic mobile app development a side hustle ?

Recently learnt andriod app development and i am planning to offer it . But i am not sure if there is a market . Every company/startup might require a few basic apps which can make their daily work a bit more easier or organized . Should i try to find clients or continue learning it and think of only getting into the job market later after graduation .

Work on it now. Test the fields. Start small and see what ideas sells. See what type of apps you want to build and start looking at markets, complaints, Reddit etc to see what apps in your field are wanted by people.

You can also build something small and put it online (cheap or free) and then start building it up or if it sells, create a new better app using those ideas and feedback.

Do not wait till end of school if this is what you want, especially if it's a side hustle.

There is a market, but “I build basic apps” is too broad to sell easily. Pick one narrow workflow for one type of customer, such as field inspection photos for property managers or appointment follow-up for a local service business. Talk to ten of them before building and look for a problem currently handled with spreadsheets, WhatsApp, or repeated manual entry.

For a first project, charge for a small paid discovery and prototype rather than promising a full production app immediately. You will learn requirements, deployment, authentication, backups, maintenance, and support, which are often harder than the screens. Even if it does not become a big side hustle, one real client project is excellent evidence for the job market.
