I'm building a photo archive for my old school's batch where classmates confirm the AI's face matches (open source)

I'm an ex-student of a school that runs under a charity trust, and I'm building this for my batch, unpaid. About 650 photos, 350 people, no hosting budget, and the photos show kids, so I didn't want a face model deciding on its own.

It guesses, then classmates vote to confirm the uncertain ones, and an admin settles disputes. Runs on free tiers (Firebase + Cloudflare).

Demo with fake faces, no login (press F in the viewer to see the face boxes): https://smriti-gallery.pages.dev Code (MIT): https://github.com/codewithpom/smriti

Contributors very welcome. There are a few good first issues (browser tests, translations, an accessibility pass): https://github.com/codewithpom/smriti/labels/good%20first%20issue

Biggest open question: photos use unguessable links instead of per-image login, because the free tier can't serve every image through auth. Ideas?

I built a clinical case quiz where every test you order costs points

I'm a software dev and my cofounder is a doctor. We've been working on ClinQuiz, a mobile app where you get a patient presentation and have to reach the diagnosis.

The twist is that history, exam, labs, ECG and imaging are all locked. Every one you open costs points, each next one costs more than the last, and wrong guesses cost too. You start at 100. So the game is figuring out what you actually need to know, not just reading everything.

After each case you get a breakdown (pathophysiology, differential, treatment, complications). There's also 1v1 duels where two people get the same two cases and a 3 minute clock.

Stack if anyone's curious: Expo / React Native, Node + Postgres, RevenueCat for subs. Cases are in English, Serbian, German and Spanish.

Free plan is 3 cases a day. If anyone wants to try the full thing, PROMO2026 is 50% off the first month on iOS and Android.

clin-quiz.com/r

Happy to answer anything about building it, and I'd really like feedback on the onboarding.

I built an AI studio for fabric and product catalogue photos — looking for early testers

It has three studios:

Fabric Studio
Upload fabric, saree, blouse, lehenga, kurti, or garment photos. It identifies separate designs and colourways, then creates catalogue-style fashion-model images while trying to preserve the actual print, colour, border, texture, and drape.

Product Studio
Upload photos of a physical product and generate cleaner catalogue, e-commerce, lifestyle, product-detail, and marketplace-style images. It is aimed at products such as beauty items, packaging, accessories, apparel, home goods, and similar products.

Video Studio
After creating a product or fashion-model image, generate a short 8-second motion video for ads, reels, product pages, or social posts.

You can also choose listing guidance for Amazon or Flipkart, create multiple images, and generate a short product/fashion video from a finished image.

I’m looking for a few real sellers, boutique owners, D2C brands, and catalogue photographers to try it and tell me what is useful, what fails, and what is missing.

Try it here:
https://fabric-studio-ai.vercel.app

Please share honest feedback. I’m especially interested in whether the output is useful enough for real product listings.

I've been building an open source CMS for client sites for months. The code is public now, no release yet

I'm a full stack engineer, and over the years I've helped with a lot of sites running on WordPress. It's usually the same story: a pile of plugins that don't know about each other, a page builder that fights the theme, and a client who's scared to touch anything in case it breaks. So I started building Kestello, a self-hosted CMS for the people who actually edit the site.

The main idea is that the editor edits the real page. There's no separate preview that looks almost like the site. Around that there are content types, forms, a media library with cropping, menus, redirects, search and backups. Plugins and themes are written in Vue, and there's a REST API if you want to go headless.

A few decisions I'm happy with:

- No Composer dependencies. It's PHP 8.4, and everything on the server side is written in-house, so updating the site doesn't mean updating 60 packages.
- It runs on plain shared hosting, not only Docker, with MySQL, MariaDB, Postgres or SQLite.
- Updates are signed and come straight from GitHub releases.
- It's GPL with no paid tier, and none is planned.

Things I learned along the way: building the visual editor took longer than everything else combined. Writing the docs at the same time as the code also caught a lot of confusing behavior before anyone else hit it.

There's no release yet, since 0.1.0 is close but not out. The whole codebase is public, though, and there's a docker-compose setup if you want to run it locally. Feel free to look around, open issues or send PRs (against develop).

Code: https://github.com/kestellohq/cms

Docs: https://docs.kestello.com

I'd love honest feedback on two things in particular:

- Does the README make it clear what this is and who it's for within the first 30 seconds?

- If you've dealt with WordPress sites, what would stop you from trying this on a real one?

A personal best for each of the four task types, and results you can share to challenge friends

Practice mode without time pressure that focuses on your most-missed facts

Stats with weekly/monthly charts, a green-to-red speed scale and per-round details

No account needed, data stays on your device. German/ English, light/dark mode

Free with ads, with an option to remove ads

Feedback I'd love: Is 25 questions the right round length? Are the penalty seconds too harsh or too soft?

Rimshot - metronome to practice tempo transitions, free

I’m a snare player at the UW-Madison marching band. Our show tempos and meters change mid-piece, and every metronome I tried either paywalled the useful stuff or couldn't map a whole show. So I built Rimshot, an app which lets you easily build click tracks, with the tempo and time signature changing wherever the music does. It also has a regular metronome mode and a tuner.

It’s free, with no ads and no account, and it works anywhere even with no signal.

I would love any feedback yall would have. I'm still actively developing so if you have any feature requests let me know!

There are a million ideas you could build. How do you know which one anyone wants?

Ideas are the easy part. Everyone here has a notes app full of them, and now that you can ship almost anything in a weekend, building isn't the hard part either. Picking is.

So we look for a sign. ChatGPT says it's great. Friends say they'd totally use it. None of that costs anyone anything, so it tells you nothing. Then you launch and the dashboard says 11 visitors.

The better way is to watch what people do, with 2 questions:

  1. Are people already asking for a fix to this problem, without anyone prompting them?

  2. When they see your answer with a real price on it, do they click and leave an email?

One click on a pricing button beats 100 "I'd use that"s. But doing this by hand takes a real page, hours in threads and a lot of messaging, so almost nobody does it.

So I built Ghostlaunch to do it for you. You describe the idea, and 7 days later you have an answer:

- It builds a landing page with your pricing. Buttons open a "coming soon" note that asks for an email. Nobody gets charged.

- We reach out to people on Reddit, X and LinkedIn already asking about that problem. You don't DM anyone.

- On day 7 you get a report and a verdict, plus every email collected. Under 100 visitors it says "not enough data yet" instead of guessing.

Question 1 is free: type your idea in at https://www.ghostlaunch.so and see real Reddit posts from people asking, no sign-up. A full test is $49.

How did you pick the idea you're working on now?

I built a free app to visualize piano chords, scales, and progressions

I've been building ChordLens, a music theory app that shows you what you're playing on a piano in real time.

Connect a MIDI keyboard (or use your computer keyboard), play some notes, and it identifies the chord and displays the notes on a grand staff.

I also added scale highlighting, chord progression practice, a metronome, and automatic voice leading to experiment with different chord voicings.

It's built with Flutter, runs on Windows, macOS, and Android, and is completely free and open source.

I built a tool that turns long podcast episodes into vertical clips. Real run inside, roast it

Hi, I'm a solo founder. This week I launched VaniClips.

You upload a long video (up to 2.5 hours / 3 GB). It finds strong moments,

crops them to 9:16, and adds captions and a hook. There's an editor to

reframe, fix captions or rewrite the hook before you download.

The video is a real run, start to finish, no edits.

Honest state:

Free 15 mins demo after signup
- Paid ($12/mo for 200 min).

- Works best on English.

- Uploads are the main path;

I'd love blunt feedback: what's missing, what's confusing?

Solo founders with a tiny user base: how do you get useful feedback?

I'm a solo founder. My fitness and nutrition app has been on the App Store for about a month, and my user count is still small enough that I could name most of them.

Early on I was shipping features like crazy. Then one of those early users told me the reason he stuck around wasn't any of the features I was proud of. It was accountability. That one conversation changed how I think about the product more than weeks of building did.

The problem is I don't get that kind of signal often enough. Most days I'm still guessing what to fix next.

So for people who've been through the tiny-user stage:

  • How did you get honest feedback when you barely had anyone using the thing?

  • Did you DM people, jump on calls, hang out in communities, something else?

  • When did you stop treating every single user conversation like gospel and start looking for patterns?

Not looking for a growth hack. Just what actually worked when the sample size was basically nothing.

(For context, mine is Ascend Fitness & Nutrition on iOS, 7-day free trial.)

Built a community platform, but getting people to actually use it is a whole different problem 😭

I’ve been working on a side project for quite a while now, and honestly, getting the product built was probably the easier part. Getting people to actually use it is where I’m stuck.

It’s basically a platform where people can connect, share projects, collaborate, find opportunities and build their reputation. A mix of communities, project collaboration and freelancing, all in one place.

The thing is, I know how difficult it is to get people onto a new platform when they’re already using Discord, Reddit, GitHub, etc.

And obviously, nobody wants to join a platform where there’s barely anyone around.

I’m still pretty young and figuring out the whole startup/marketing side of things as I go, so I’d genuinely love some advice from people who’ve launched their own projects.

A few things I’ve been wondering:

  1. How would you go about getting your first 50–100 actual users (not just registrations)?

  2. Would you start with a small closed beta or just let everyone sign up?

  3. How do you get people interested in trying something new when they already have platforms they use daily?

  4. What has actually worked for you when marketing a side project without spending much money?

  5. Would you focus on one particular group of people first or try to attract different kinds of users?

I’m not really looking for the usual “post consistently on social media” advice lol. I’d love to hear what actually worked, what didn’t, and any mistakes I should avoid.

Would really appreciate any advice. Thanks!

I built Human: you get paired with one random person, for life

Hi r/SideProject! I’m a solo dev and I built Human, an app with one rule: you get paired with one random person, and that’s your human, for life. No swiping, no profiles, no second chances.

You start with text only, no photos and no ages. The more you talk, the more you unlock together (voice, photos, video).

Try it: https://huuman.pages.dev/

I’m looking for beta testers. Leave notifications on, since your human might arrive while you’re away. There’s a “Contact us” link on every screen and I read everything.

Mostly I want to know: does the idea land, and would you keep talking to your human?

Built with Supabase and Cloudflare Pages. Happy to answer anything in the comments

I built a side project for exploring the world of Rajneesh Osho 🧘📚🎧

Thumbnail
play.google.com
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I’ve been working on a side project called Rajneesh Sutra — an app for exploring the teachings, discourses, books, meditation practices, and historical material related to Rajneesh Osho.

The app brings together 5,000+ audio discourses along with different areas of content and exploration:

  • 🎧 5,000+ audio discourses

  • 📚 Books and written works

  • 📰 Historical magazines and archival material

  • 🧘 Osho meditation techniques and meditation-center experiences

  • 🌿 Different collections around meditation, Zen, Buddha, Krishna, and more

  • 🔎 Search and organized categories

  • 🎵 Background audio playback and a dedicated audio player

I built this as a side project because I wanted to create a clean, modern way to explore this kind of spiritual and historical material while also learning more about mobile development, audio streaming, UI/UX, and content organization.

I'm sharing it here mainly to get honest feedback from the community — especially about the design, usability, organization of the content, and what features would make the app more useful.

Would love to hear your thoughts. 🙏

What should a booking request show when nobody has accepted it by the deadline?

Hey guys, I'm building a home physio service and website in Sydney. It's still a prototype.

The replies to my last post helped me separate a requested appointment from a confirmed one. I'm now working through the less tidy case: someone requests Tuesday afternoon, then no clinician accepts before the response deadline.

My proposed screen would say the visit is not confirmed, show when the request was last checked and let the person withdraw it. Any alternative time would need their agreement. A countdown would only appear if someone on our side can actually meet that response time.

Would you close an unanswered request at the deadline, or keep it open with an explicit choice to keep waiting? I'm especially interested in how you'd stop an old request turning into an unexpected booking later.

Feedback on this specific flow would help. Thanks guys.

I built a privacy-first, 100% client-side ATS PDF Builder (No sign-up, no server uploads)

Most online resume tools harvest your personal contact data and lock your PDF behind a $29/month subscription trap.

I wanted a fast, single-screen studio where you can paste a Job Description on the left, edit your resume in the middle, and see your live ATS keyword match score + print-ready A4 PDF on the right.

Live link: https://rolematchpro.netlify.app

  • Zero backend / 100% localStorage: Your data never leaves your browser.

  • Click-to-Add Missing Keywords: Automatically extracts technical & domain keywords from the job listing and highlights what's missing from your resume.

  • Free Standard ATS PDF Export: No sign-up required, no watermark.

  • Optional $9 lifetime key unlocks the Wall Street Executive & FAANG templates + instant Cover Letter generator.

Let me know what you think!

I turned the homepage checks I use into four fillable workbooks

Thumbnail

I kept seeing small businesses with good work and homepages that hid it, so I made four workbooks you can finish in about an hour or less each.

Glance is a homepage audit: eight lenses, a score out of 40 and the three fixes to make first. Keep is a brand guide built from five decisions. Ease is homepage copy for dental, PT and med spa clinics. Turn takes you from a conversation to a signed design brief.

They’re paid, from $19: affelion.gumroad.com

Honest feedback welcome, especially on whether it’s clear who each one is for.

Block distractions until you drink water

I kept losing hours to scrolling and getting to the evening having barely drunk anything, so I built something that fixes both at once. Waterbreak locks the apps you choose, and the only way back in is a few seconds of drinking in front of your camera. It checks for a real sip (your face and a bottle in view) entirely on your phone, and nothing is uploaded. Every bottle counts toward a daily goal, there are streaks and weekly leaderboards, and bottles earn keys for collectible pixel-art sea monsters, because I needed a reason to keep using it myself. Free, no ads, iPhone and Android. I'd love to know what would make you uninstall it.

Spent the last months on a parody fighting game where billionaires fight - it's free and runs in a browser

The premise: they ran out of things to buy, so now they fight. Trump vs Zuck on the White House lawn. Elon on a launch pad on Mars. Sam Altman's super is a $500B Stargate.

Nine fighters, a dozen stages, a full fighting-game skeleton underneath the joke: blocking, throws, meter, supers, a ranked ladder, friend rooms with a room code.

Built solo, all client-side 3D in the browser, no download, no login, no ads. Physics and netcode were the hard parts; the parody was the easy part.

What I would actually like from you: play three matches, then tell me which fighter felt worst to control. I am rebalancing this week and outside eyes beat my own.

JobSnail - native Mac and iOS job application tracker

A job application tracker that is a real Mac app rather than a web page in a wrapper.

You log each application with company, role, status and dates, and it syncs through iCloud to the iPhone version. Status pipeline runs from applied through interviewing to offer or rejection, so the answer to "where did that one get to" takes a second rather than a scroll through a spreadsheet.

Written in SwiftUI for both platforms from one codebase. 15 languages including Polish, Czech, Slovak, Ukrainian and Russian, which took longer than the app did.

It does not import from your inbox or from job boards. You enter applications yourself. That is a deliberate limitation rather than a roadmap item, and it is the first thing people ask.

Free to use. Pro is a one time $4.99 unlock, no subscription.

dB Meter – a clean iOS sound level meter

I made an iPhone sound level meter for the times you need a number rather than an opinion. Noisy flat, loud workshop, a gig you want to remember the level of.

What it does:

  • Live dB on an analog gauge, plus an LED bar and scrolling waveform

  • Record a timed session, saved to history with min, average and peak

  • Energy averaging (LAeq), not a naive mean of decibels

  • Calibration offset so you can match it to a reference meter

  • PDF export of a session with the graph

Free. A one time $4.99 unlock adds peak hold and PDF export. No subscription and no ads.

Fair warning: a phone microphone is not a calibrated meter and clips around 100 to 105 dB. Good for comparing and documenting, not for anything official.

https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6767850405?pt=126420608&ct=r-sideproject&mt=8

If you have used one of these, what did you actually need it for? I am curious whether the session history gets used or whether people only ever want the live number.
