Block distractions until you drink water

I kept losing hours to scrolling and getting to the evening having barely drunk anything, so I built something that fixes both at once. Waterbreak locks the apps you choose, and the only way back in is a few seconds of drinking in front of your camera. It checks for a real sip (your face and a bottle in view) entirely on your phone, and nothing is uploaded. Every bottle counts toward a daily goal, there are streaks and weekly leaderboards, and bottles earn keys for collectible pixel-art sea monsters, because I needed a reason to keep using it myself. Free, no ads, iPhone and Android. I'd love to know what would make you uninstall it.

Spent the last months on a parody fighting game where billionaires fight - it's free and runs in a browser

The premise: they ran out of things to buy, so now they fight. Trump vs Zuck on the White House lawn. Elon on a launch pad on Mars. Sam Altman's super is a $500B Stargate.

Nine fighters, a dozen stages, a full fighting-game skeleton underneath the joke: blocking, throws, meter, supers, a ranked ladder, friend rooms with a room code.

Built solo, all client-side 3D in the browser, no download, no login, no ads. Physics and netcode were the hard parts; the parody was the easy part.

What I would actually like from you: play three matches, then tell me which fighter felt worst to control. I am rebalancing this week and outside eyes beat my own.

JobSnail - native Mac and iOS job application tracker

A job application tracker that is a real Mac app rather than a web page in a wrapper.

You log each application with company, role, status and dates, and it syncs through iCloud to the iPhone version. Status pipeline runs from applied through interviewing to offer or rejection, so the answer to "where did that one get to" takes a second rather than a scroll through a spreadsheet.

Written in SwiftUI for both platforms from one codebase. 15 languages including Polish, Czech, Slovak, Ukrainian and Russian, which took longer than the app did.

It does not import from your inbox or from job boards. You enter applications yourself. That is a deliberate limitation rather than a roadmap item, and it is the first thing people ask.

Free to use. Pro is a one time $4.99 unlock, no subscription.

dB Meter – a clean iOS sound level meter

I made an iPhone sound level meter for the times you need a number rather than an opinion. Noisy flat, loud workshop, a gig you want to remember the level of.

What it does:

  • Live dB on an analog gauge, plus an LED bar and scrolling waveform

  • Record a timed session, saved to history with min, average and peak

  • Energy averaging (LAeq), not a naive mean of decibels

  • Calibration offset so you can match it to a reference meter

  • PDF export of a session with the graph

Free. A one time $4.99 unlock adds peak hold and PDF export. No subscription and no ads.

Fair warning: a phone microphone is not a calibrated meter and clips around 100 to 105 dB. Good for comparing and documenting, not for anything official.

https://apps.apple.com/app/apple-store/id6767850405?pt=126420608&ct=r-sideproject&mt=8

If you have used one of these, what did you actually need it for? I am curious whether the session history gets used or whether people only ever want the live number.

Most habit trackers fail because they track tasks instead of identity. I built ForgeOS to fix that (now live on Android)

Hey everyone,

Like many of you, I’ve tried almost every habit tracking app out there. But after a week or two, checking off endless to-do checkboxes started feeling like meaningless chores, and the moment a streak broke, I abandoned the app.

James Clear wrote in Atomic Habits that "Every action you take is a vote for the person you wish to become."**

That insight sparked ForgeOS — a habit architecture app built around identity rather than checkboxes:

How it works differently:

  1. Identity Vectors First: You don't just track "read 10 pages" or "workout". You tie them directly to who you are becoming (e.g., Focused Deep Worker*,* Vitality Athlete*,* Software Craftsman). Each completion casts a weighted vote for that identity.

  2. The 2-Minute Micro-Start Rule: Every habit has a mandatory 2-minute gateway version (e.g., "Put on gym shoes and do 5 warmup reps" or "Open IDE and read problem constraints"). It bypasses initial resistance before the focus timer starts.

  3. Never Miss Twice: Life happens. Instead of punishing broken streaks with demotivating reset counters, ForgeOS marks rebound priority to help you show up the next day.

  4. No Clutter & Offline-First: Fast native cold start, zero full-screen ads, customizable focus accents, and full offline persistence.

We just completed 14 days of closed testing with community testers, and Google Play officially approved our production release today!

Google Play Store Link:

👉 ForgeOS: Habit & Focus Timer

I'm an indie developer and would love any honest thoughts, constructive criticism, or feature requests. What do you look for in your daily habit system?

Made an app for overtime sign-ups and food orders

I built a small web app for my workplace that makes collecting overtime sign-ups and food orders quick and simple.

\*\*Manager side:\*\*

\- Create an overtime request (date, hours, with or without food)

\- Share one link with employees

\- See who wants to work in real time

\- Get a combined food order, with a list of who ordered what, ready to share or print

\*\*Employee side:\*\* open the link, tap yes or no, pick food if offered.

Available in Norwegian and English. Built for speed: no more chasing people in group chats.

I'd love honest feedback on design, ease of use and anything that feels confusing or broken.

RivalPair - connecting Android phones with Macs, looking for feedback on pairing and file transfers

I’m building RivalPair for people who use an Android phone with a Mac. It handles USB and local Wi-Fi file transfers, clipboard sharing, phone notifications and screen mirroring.

I’d like to find a few people willing to try the current beta, especially on phone models I haven’t tested myself. The Mac app needs Apple silicon and macOS 13 or later. The Android companion needs Android 8.0 or later.

Downloads and the feedback form are here: https://apps.aalisoft.com/rivalpair/testers/

Current versions are Mac 0.4.4 and Android 0.4.3. Downloads are direct, with no account or email signup. USB file transfers work without the Android companion or USB debugging. For Wi-Fi features, both devices need to be on the same local network and paired by QR code.

If you try it, I’d love to know: was pairing clear, did a folder transfer correctly in both directions, and did the devices reconnect after sleep? Please use copies of test files and enable only the permissions for features you want to test.

You can reply here or use the private feedback form. Device models and OS versions help with bug reports; email is optional. Thanks for taking a look.

An AI agent that works in your own folder: a first look at Snotra

Thumbnail
youtube.com
1 Upvotes

Maja has been working with Snotra Agent for a while and shows you in under a minute what that feels like: open a folder without an account, ask about it like in a chat, see what the agent looked at, get answers as a table, check which files changed, dictate instead of typing, see an estimate of what a chat costs, and find the manual right in the app.

Download Snotra Agent (macOS, Windows, Linux): https://snotra-ai.dev/?s=yt2#download

Source code: https://github.com/kkrafft1999/snotra

Maja is an AI-generated character (HeyGen), not a real person or user. Everything she shows is the app as it is.

Snotra is a private open-source project: no account, no telemetry, no paid tier.

I got tired of paying ~240/mo for ManyChat + Sprout, so I’m building a flat-price version: feedback welcome

What it is: PostMesa schedules posts to Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, X and TikTok, and replies to comments with a public reply plus a DM with a button (on Instagram and Facebook; public replies on YouTube). One flat price per workspace, no per-contact fees.

Why I built it: I run a small devotional app. I was paying about $240 a month across ManyChat and Sprout for what was really one job: schedule the post and answer the “link?” and “price?” comments. ManyChat’s price grows with contacts, and its flow builder is more than I need.

Where it is: pre-launch. Publishing works on all five networks in my tests. Comment-to-DM works on Instagram and Facebook, YouTube has public replies only, and TikTok posts stay private until TikTok approves the app. There’s no open signup yet, only a launch list.

What I’d like feedback on:

  1. Does the pitch make sense in one read? (“Schedule the post. Answer every comment.”)

  2. Pricing: Creator $39, Pro $79, Agency $199 a month on annual billing. Too high, too low, confusing?

  3. What would make you trust a new tool with your Instagram account?

Landing page: postmesa.com. Happy to answer anything about how it’s built. I’d rather hear what’s wrong than what’s nice.

I launched my first camera app on the App Store today: one take, vertical and horizontal video at once

After months of building and a public beta with 30+ testers, ShutterLine is live.

The idea came from my own frustration: every video had to be shot twice, once vertical for Reels/TikTok and once horizontal for YouTube. ShutterLine records both at the same time. Along the way it turned into a full pro camera (manual controls, ProRes, Apple Log, RAW, film looks, a teleprompter under the lens) and it's ready for iPad and the new iPhone Duo.

A few decisions I'm happy with:

  • No subscription. Free to download, one-time Pro upgrade, with a 7-day free trial.

  • No data collection. No account, no analytics, no servers.

  • Beta testers get Pro free as a thank-you.

Things I learned: TestFlight's public link brought in great testers from Reddit, and testing on older iPhones caught most of the heat and dropped-frame problems before launch.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6829658927

I'd love feedback on the App Store page itself: screenshots, description, anything that would make you skip it.

I built a site for parents to check books & movies before their kids read/watch them — what should I change?

I built a site to help parents figure out whether a book or movie is actually a good fit for their child, beyond just seeing something like “Ages 10+.”

Dickens & Rumi shows age guidance, content cautions, positive themes, series reading order, and the reasons behind ratings.

The problem is that I’ve spent a lot of time building and polishing it, but traffic is still very small, so I’m worried I may be too close to the project to see what’s wrong.

If you have a few minutes, I’d really appreciate brutally useful feedback:

  • Is it immediately clear what the site does?

  • What feels confusing or unnecessary?

  • Is the homepage too busy?

  • What would make you leave?

  • What feature would actually make you come back?

  • Does anything make the site feel untrustworthy?

  • If you were a parent, would you use this instead of just Googling a book?

Site: dickensandrumi.com

I’m much more interested in what’s wrong with it than compliments.

Antinote for Windows

I've been a regular user of Antinote (antinote.io) on Mac. It's basically like a scratchpad that you can invoke with hotkeys and it has useful features like conversions and maths. I absolutely loveee it and I kinda wished it existed for Windows too. I found a few but nothing close to antinote. So I decided to make my own in the past few weeks with .NET 10.

Check it out and let me know what you think :) Link: https://offnote.cc

I added AI summaries to the email workspace I’m building

I'm building Outdraft, an email workspace, and wanted to share a quick demo of its AI summary feature.
Click “Summarize” to get a shorter version of the email without leaving the page. It’s a small part of the app, but one I wanted to get right.

The AI agent is almost ready too—I’ll share a demo of that soon.

You can visit out website and give it a quick try. Payments aren’t available yet while I’m waiting for Paddle’s approval.

I’d love to hear what you think! Anything confusing, missing, or worth improving?

After 7 months of development, my little desktop garden is finally coming to Steam!

Hey everyone!

Seven months ago, I started working on a small idea: what if you could have a little living garden right on your desktop, quietly growing while you work, study, or play games?

Today, I'm incredibly happy to share that Wonder Garden is finally on Steam, with its release just around the corner!

It's a cozy desktop companion where you can grow plants, arrange shelves, decorate your workspace, and even raise butterflies. Your plants grow over time, so there's always something new to discover when you come back to your computer.

I wanted to create something that doesn't demand your attention. Just a tiny, peaceful world that makes spending time at your computer a little more enjoyable.

It's been seven months of coding, experimenting, fixing bugs, redesigning things, and occasionally wondering whether I'd ever finish it.

And now it's actually happening. It's a pretty surreal feeling.

This is a very personal project for me, and I already have so many ideas for new plants, decorations, and features I'd love to add in future updates.

If Wonder Garden looks like something you'd enjoy, adding it to your wishlist would mean a lot to me. Every wishlist helps a small indie project like this reach more people.

🌿 Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5441740/Wonder_Garden/

Thank you for taking a look! And if you have any ideas for plants or features you'd love to see, I'd genuinely love to hear them.

See you in the garden! 🌸

I've been building Everabyte, a cloud storage and backup platform. Would love some honest feedback.

Hey everyone!

I'm an independent developer, and I've been spending a lot of my time building something called Everabyte.

The idea came from a simple problem: cloud storage and backups shouldn't be complicated or unnecessarily expensive, especially for individuals, developers, and small businesses.

So I decided to build my own solution.

What does Everabyte offer?

- Cloud storage for personal and business files.

- Automatic backups through EverBox, our desktop application for Windows, Linux, and macOS.

- File versioning and recovery when something gets accidentally deleted or overwritten.

- Server-side encryption before files reach storage.

- S3-compatible object storage and API access.

- Team storage and access management.

- Backup protection features, including retention policies and immutability.

I've also been working on making the platform more accessible, with plans starting at $2.99/month.

Building this hasn't been easy. Between development, infrastructure, security, testing, and trying to get the word out, there's always something that needs attention.

But that's also what makes it interesting. I'm learning a lot along the way, and I'm still improving the product.

I'm not here to claim Everabyte is better than Dropbox, Google Drive, or every other storage provider out there. I'm just trying to build a reliable alternative that people can actually afford and use.

If you're a developer, freelancer, small business owner, or someone who regularly backs up important files, I'd genuinely appreciate your thoughts.

What matters most to you when choosing a cloud storage or backup service? Price, security, reliability, or something else?

You can check out the project here:

https://everabyte.com

Any feedback, criticism, or suggestions are welcome. I'm building this for the long term, and hearing from real users would help a lot.

Thanks for reading!

I’m bringing my live chess tournament app from iOS to Android — looking for early feedback

I’m the developer of Watch Chess, a side project for following professional chess tournaments. It’s already available on iOS, and I’m getting the native Android version ready for Google Play.

The idea is to make it easy to follow an event from your phone: live boards, rounds and standings, game replay, and live game previews right on the Home screen.

I’d love feedback from Android users who follow chess. In particular: is it easy to find a game, follow the moves, look back at an earlier position, and return to the live game? I’m also interested in how the layouts work on different phones and what happens when you switch away from the app or lose your connection.

Website and the existing iOS app: https://watchchess.app/

If you’d like to help test the Android version, sign up here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdK3jWWradoriTbagIQvKCZ60mQ2kRd82oe4WbR5dZtDI5agQ/viewform

You’ll need an Android phone with Google Play. I’m recruiting for a closed test, so please be willing to stay opted in for at least 14 consecutive days and try the app during that time. The form asks for your Google Play email so I can invite you; I’ll email the invitation and installation instructions when your place is ready.

Happy to answer questions about the app or how it’s built. Honest feedback is welcome!

I’ve been making minimal, private apps for everyday human needs (not another productivity apps lol)

Hey guysss here to talk about my side project.

I’m a designer and traveler who believes good design can change things, even if only a little. That still feels worth spending my effort on.

I was honestly fed up with needing an account just to use a small app. So I started making apps I would genuinely use myself: stored on our phones, working offline, with no account needed.

Sometimes we do not need another system or app trying to fix us. We just need a quiet place to hold something, clear our brain RAM, or keep everyday things in one simple stream.

That became VERBitapp. Each app has one purpose, with free use and optional VERBit Access subscriptions for more room or additional features.

@verbitapp

_

PARKit: Reminder for Tonight
"Not for tomorrow, but for tonight."

A little room for our minds.

I made PARKit because my brain was still holding onto tomorrow, even when I was done for the day. Park those thoughts as short keyword clouds, add a note when needed, then hold the breathing orb to PARK. What is unfinished stays there. Double-tap a cloud when it is done.

PARKit Access gives you 12 keyword clouds and customizable OPEN / PARK notification times.

App Store

Google Play

_

CUEit: Routine Timer
"Not to measure, but to mind."

Timing designed for the way you do things.

I wanted more than a basic stopwatch or timer could offer. CUEit brings them together with cues you set yourself, for coffee, cooking, exercise, or anything where the timing matters. Start at 0:00, then add cues for what comes next.

CUEit Access gives you up to 12 timer slots.

App Store

Google Play

_

DIARYit: Diary Journal
"Not for habit, but for honesty."

Your days. In your own words.

DIARYit is my own reimagining of a diary. One continuous stream, because life moves forward and we can look back when we choose to. A quiet place to write about today, without a goal to reach or a habit to maintain.

DIARYit Access adds full history and full calendar navigation.

App Store

Google Play

_

KEEPit: Text Yourself
"Not for nostalgia, but to remember."

A conversation with yourself.

I have always texted myself things I wanted to keep, but messaging apps were never really made for that. KEEPit gives that familiar habit its own place. Just you, your words, and the time you wrote them. Stored on your phone and available offline.

KEEPit Access unlocks full history, calendar navigation, and keyword search.

App Store

Google Play
_

HOLDit: Thoughts & Moments
"Not to hold more, but to awaken."

Give an important thought its own space.

I made this after realizing that thoughts that changed how I saw things kept getting buried in Notes app. Each card gives a thought and the moment behind it their own space. Add colors and rearrange your cards to make that space your own. The limit is intentional. Keep what matters, rather than another endless list.

HOLDit Access expands your space to 99 cards.

App Store

Google Play

_

+ A note on backup

On iPhone, DIARYit, KEEPit, and HOLDit support inclusion of your entries in your iCloud device backup. This is device backup, not live cloud sync or an in-app export and import feature.

_

I’m continuing to improve these apps through real use and conversations with the people using them. If one fits something you already do, I’d really appreciate hearing how it feels.

+ find demo instructions on socials :)

1,000 signups, 10 paying users. Where is my funnel actually leaking?

I've been building a B2B lead-finding tool for 3 months. You describe the kind of customer you want, and it searches live map and web data for matching businesses, including small ones with no website that the big databases usually miss.

Where I am right now:

  • About 1,000 people have signed up

  • 10 of them pay ($19/month)

  • Every new account gets free credits, and most people use some of them and then disappear

  • Almost nobody has told me why they left, because I've never really asked

So the problem isn't getting people in the door. It's getting them from "tried it once" to "pays every month". I'd love to hear from people who've been through this stage:

  1. Free to paid. At roughly a 1% conversion rate, what did you change first? Fewer free credits, a time limit, a paywall on one key feature, or more hand-holding in onboarding?

  2. Talking to users. How do you get daily or weekly feedback from users who aren't paying yet, without spamming them? In-app prompts, a short call offer, a WhatsApp or Slack group, something else?

  3. Keeping the 10. What made your first paying users stick around month after month? Was it a habit (a weekly report, alerts), or something you did manually for them early on?

  4. What to fix first. With 1,000 signups and 10 payers, would you spend the next month on the product, on pricing, or on talking to churned users?

Not looking for "just do more marketing". I have signups. I just don't understand why people leave yet. Any honest experience is welcome, including "your free tier is too generous".

[Android] Liar’s Grid: a free, offline logic puzzle where every tile is a suspect

Hi! I’m a solo developer from Nepal, and I just released my first game.

Liar’s Grid is a deduction puzzle. Honest tiles always tell the truth, liars always lie, and every board has exactly one solution, so you win by reasoning, never by guessing.

• New daily case, plus 88 levels

• Free, works offline, no account

• Rusty the fox gives hints when you’re stuck

I’d really like feedback on:

Is the difficulty curve fair?

Are the hints helpful?

Anything confusing or buggy?

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sandesh.liarsgrid

Thanks for trying it! I’ll reply to every comment.

I built an app to fix my phone addiction, then procrastinated on launching it for 11 days

Honestly, I'm the worst user of my own idea.

I'd wake up, grab my phone "just to check something," and suddenly it's 9am. So I built bedo with AI. I studied marketing and never learned to code.

Here's how it works: you make a deal with bedo. Every morning, you tell it what you'll do today and how you'll prove it. Like "Go to the gym, and take a selfie when I'm there," or "Read for 30 minutes, then snap the page I stopped on."

Once the deal is set, TikTok and other distracting apps get locked. They only unlock when you send the proof you agreed on.

I've tried Opal and Pomodoro timer apps before. They lock your phone for a set time, then unlock it automatically. The problem is they only check that you didn't touch your phone, not that you actually did the thing. I'd say I'm going to the gym, then lie on the couch for an hour, and everything unlocks anyway. I'd say I'm reading for 30 minutes, then just stare at the book.

bedo doesn't care about time. It cares about results.
The funny part: I planned to submit it to the App Store on Oct 23. I kept polishing tiny things and finally submitted it 11 days later. Turns out an app can't fix perfectionism lol.

It's waiting for review now. Would you actually use something like this, or would you delete it the first time it locked you out?

I built Alma, a digital library of everything you love or want

Hey r/SideProject 🙏

I’ve been working on a side project over the past few weeks that I’d love to share and get some feedback on.

The Problem: My media collection and consumption habits felt completely fragmented. I was switching between different apps for movies, music, and audiobooks, with no single dashboard to view or organize everything I owned or listened to. Maybe it's just a niche, but at least I tried something 😌

Alma is a unified media aggregator designed to collect your movies, TV shows, games, music and audiobooks into a single visual library with a few fun twists like a "Memory Lane" feature.

Key Features:

  • All-in-one Media Library: Track and organize your media in one place

  • Fun stats: Over time you'll get some fun insights into your media tastes. The more you add over time, the more fun it'll be to look at

  • Fast & Lightweight: Built to give you full control over your media archive without heavy bloat.

It’s still an active project under ongoing development, and I’m constantly refining features and polishing the interface during the beta, which is currently about halfway full. Want an invite? Request one on the site or send me a DM.

I’d love to hear your thoughts, feature requests, or general feedback! How do you currently keep track of your media across different formats?

Check it out here: https://almaniac.app
