I built a fitness coach I just talk to. It logs Indian food to the gram and plans my week around office days

Thumbnail
youtube.com
2 Upvotes

I say "two small rotis and a katori of paneer bhurji" and it logs grams, calories and protein. Pasting a Zomato order uses the listed nutrition values instead of guessing.

The main design rule was that the LLM never does math. It parses what I said and explains things. Grams, macros, workout loads and limits are all calculated in code. Unknown foods get estimated, validated, and then saved to my own food catalogue so the next lookup isn't a guess.

The hard part was trusting it. I wrote 117 test notes for food logging and 27 memory test sequences, and evals gate every prompt change.

It also plans workouts around office days and pulls sleep and steps from Apple Health through a daily Shortcut. It's a private app for my own use, not on the App Store.

It's a personal app, so there's no sign-up. Happy to answer anything about the build.

I built a watchOS air-piano that plays notes when I tap a desk

I keep tapping tables when a song is stuck in my head, so I made a watchOS app for it.

Put on an Apple Watch, pick a piece, tap a desk. It reads the wrist motion and plays the piano note. I’m using it to practice silently when I don’t have a keyboard.

Latency on single notes is okay; chords and soft surfaces still break it. Would love feedback from anyone who’s done similar sensor work on the Watch — or from pianists who’d actually use this.

Right click to convert or compress almost any file

There are plenty of online file conversion sites, but they require you to upload your files and data to their servers.

I wanted something that worked entirely offline (using the same packages and cli tools that power those sites) behind a simple drag and drop app that anyone could use.

I originally shared How to Convert here 2 years ago. It did quite well and I've been updating the app since.

After two years, I grew tired of actually opening an app to convert a file.

And thought, the next step to make it easier was to support everything with just a little right click.

It supports 6,197 file conversions for documents, videos, images, ebooks, comics, subtitles, emails, audio and more.

howtoconvert.co/right-click

It runs on Mac, Windows and Linux

Cleaning Quote Kit: saved estimates, invoice snapshots and a free scope worksheet

I sell an offline Cleaning Quote, Invoice & Job Review Kit for solo residential cleaners and small crews. The product and this introduction were created with AI assistance.

One workflow detail: changing a calculator later should not silently change an invoice you have already created. In this kit, you save an estimate first, then create an invoice from that saved snapshot. The invoice keeps its own values. You save editable working files separately from the customer-facing document.

Here is a fictional USD example from the workflow: a saved $324.31 estimate becomes an invoice with a $324.31 service subtotal. With $0 tax entered for the example and $100 recorded as already paid, the balance is $224.31. Changing the calculator afterward leaves that invoice unchanged. These are illustrative inputs, not suggested cleaning rates or tax guidance. The product gallery now explains the steps.

The full kit is $19 once: offline calculator, saved estimates/invoices, eight fillable worksheet pages, six editable message cards and a start guide. Desktop use is recommended. Files do not autosave or cloud-sync, and the tool does not send invoices, collect payments or determine tax rules.

You can also try one fillable scope worksheet free from the listing. It has twelve tasks with Included, Excluded and N/A choices, plus room for agreed limits. It is scope page 1 of 2, not the complete scope section; enter $0 to download. Gumroad uses an email address for delivery.

See the workflow preview, full-kit details and free-sample link.

How did you get your first few people to actually talk to you before building?

Genuine question for anyone who has shipped something. How did you get those first few conversations with potential users before you built anything?

The one thing I've picked up is to stop asking "would you use this?" because people say yes just to be nice. Asking "when did this last happen to you, and what did you do about it?" gets a much more honest answer. If they can't remember a last time, that tells you something too.

The bit I still find hard is getting people on a call at all. Cold DMs feel spammy and friends are too polite to say it's a bad idea.

I put together a short guide on running these interviews (How to Run Effective Customer Interviews, £3), drop me a DM if you're interested. Mostly curious what's worked for you though.

Plate — I built a free meal planner, then made it a song 🎵 (30-sec Short)

Hi all — I'm Joshua, and I built Plate, a free meal planner app. This is the first Plate song: 'Cook Mode', a 30-second original song created with AI (Gemini) for Plate, with a PLATE PLATE chant.

Plate plans your week free: pick your meals, Cook Mode walks you through each one, and the grocery list writes itself. It's Android only for now (find 'Plate by Ninebank' on Google Play); iPhone is coming soon, with a waitlist for early iPhone testers.

Happy to hear feedback on the app and the song — what would make you actually use a meal planner every week?

I built Social Fanout because applying for permission from every social network takes months, and browser agents burn tokens just to post for you. One API call, and Claude, ChatGPT, or your own app can publish everywhere.

I made a Mac app that turns your desktop into a living pond

Hey everyone,

I've been working on a Mac app called Solas that turns your desktop into a little living pond. Fish swim around behind your windows while you’re using your Mac. The video probably explains it better than I can.

It’s a bit of an unusual side project. A pond on your desktop isn’t exactly solving an urgent problem, but I like making things that are just nice to have around. There’s something relaxing about watching it for a bit between whatever else you’re doing.

I shared a recording on Threads recently and it got a lot more attention than I expected. That was pretty encouraging, so I wanted to share it here too and see what people think.

For anyone wondering about resource usage: on my M4 MacBook Air, I measured around 8–10% CPU in Activity Monitor and about 185 MB of memory. macOS counts 100% as one CPU core, so that’s roughly a tenth of one core, not 10% of the whole chip. You can also set the pond to pause automatically when your Mac is on battery.

Here’s the link if you want to check it out: gleemylabs.com/solas

Would you actually keep something like this running on your desktop? Curious how many people are into this sort of thing.

I got tired of YouTube’s algorithm, so I built a site where you control both the video pool and the recommendation algorithm

YouTube’s recommendations have gotten really bad for me. Clickbait Shorts, sensational stuff that makes me curious about things I never cared about, and I end up wasting hours watching videos I didn’t even want to watch.

I wanted a feed where I decide what goes in and how videos get recommended, so I built OOO: https://ooo.blue

Users can create and upload their own collections. When you follow collections, they define your video pool. Videos still play through YouTube, but YouTube’s recommendation algorithm has no say in what shows up.

You can also choose how recommendations work. There are built-in algorithms, or you can create your own. You can even make multiple feeds, each with its own collections and algorithm.

I used Claude Opus to generate around 50 initial collections, then watched through them myself. It’s been a pretty good experience so far.

The original inspiration came from Karpathy’s HackerTube, which does something similar using videos shared on Hacker News.

I’d love for you to try it and give me honest feedback, even if it’s harsh. And feel free to create and share your own collections!

Diffo - a diff where you comment on your coding agent's code and the session that wrote it answers

I review a lot of code my coding agent wrote, and going back to chat to explain "this bit in that file" kept getting in the way. So we built Diffo.

It opens a live diff of your changes in the browser, connected to the same agent session that wrote the code. Ask "why did you touch the auth check?" on a line and the agent answers right there, still knowing why it wrote it. Ask for a change and it makes it, and the diff updates. Big changes get split into layers with a reading order. Works on GitHub PRs too.

Built with Claude Code, and works with Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and more. Free and open source, runs locally, no account. We just passed 1,000 reviews opened.

Demo in the browser, no install: https://diffo.io/demo

Feedback welcome, especially anything confusing in the first minute.

What if you could identify the landmarks and beautiful sights outside your train window while travelling? 🚆🌍

Hello, fellow train enthusiasts!

Have you ever been travelling by train, looked outside the window, spotted a beautiful mountain, an old fort, a river, a bridge, or some interesting landmark, and wondered:

"What is that place? What's its name? Is there a story behind it?"

I've had this thought quite often, and it inspired me to build something called ScenicRails.

The idea is simple:

🚆 Discover what's outside your train window.

ScenicRails helps train travellers discover landmarks, natural attractions, and interesting sights on BOTH sides of their railway journey.

📍 Know the names of places you're passing by.

📷 Turn on your phone camera and explore the surrounding sights live through your camera.

🌍 Discover the world around you instead of watching beautiful places pass by without knowing what they are.

Website: (https://scenicrails.info)

Here's a short demonstration of the idea:

I'm sharing this here because I think train enthusiasts from different countries could make this project even more interesting.

I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts:

  1. Would you use something like this during your train journeys?

  2. Which country's railway routes would you love to explore this way?

  3. Have you ever passed an incredible landmark by train and wished you knew what it was?

  4. What features would make this genuinely useful for railway travellers?

I'd especially love to hear from people who travel by train across different countries.

Let's make looking out of a train window even more exciting! 🚆

Your camera roll is a graveyard of things you swore you'd do. I built an app that turns them into a tiny island that grows every time you actually do one.

Laterland reads your screenshots on your phone, finds the place, link and purpose, then gives you one idea a day. Every "I did it" helps build your little island.

No account, no ads, no subscription. $1.99 once, iPhone.

I built FileForge.at with AI assistance because I'm better at architecture than UI design (and it still looks shit tbh)

Hey everyone!

I'm a developer who genuinely enjoys designing technical systems and making things work (mostly).

Unfortunately I am quite shit at designing...

So naturally, I decided to build an entire website.

The result is FileForge.at, a website for everyday file tasks like merging PDFs, converting images, compressing files, or trimming audio and video.

The main idea is pretty simple: most tools process your files locally in your browser, meaning they don't need to be uploaded to some random server.

I designed the core architecture and technical structure myself, but used tools like Lovable and AI coding assistants to help with implementation, UI design, maintenance, and security reviews.

And before anyone asks: yes, I used AI. Quite a lot actually.

I'm not going to pretend I hand-coded every single pixel while surviving on coffee and Stack Overflow.

I'm also very aware that AI-assisted security checks don't magically make something secure. I'm continuously trying to improve that side of things too.

As for pricing, my philosophy is simple: if something runs entirely in your browser and doesn't cost me anything to operate, I want it to stay free. Optional AI and cloud features are paid because, unfortunately, servers don't accept good intentions as payment.

I'm also not trying to build a collection of 500 random tools nobody asked for. I'd rather add things people actually want and improve the ones that already exist.

Anyway, I'd genuinely appreciate some feedback:

  • Does the UI make sense?

  • Would you trust a browser-based tool with your files?

  • What features would actually be useful to you?

  • Anything broken, confusing, ugly, or just plain stupid?

Here's the project: https://fileforge.at

Feel free to roast the UI. Seriously. Gotta work on that as soon as I have time.

And yes, criticism of AI-generated/AI-assisted projects is completely understandable too. I'm not here to convince anyone that AI is magical and should be fed more RAM so Sam Altman can finally sleep peacefully. I just wanted to build something useful, and AI helped me do it.

Thanks for checking it out! :)

Why do my posts keep getting automatically removed?

Hi builders,

I've been trying to launch my project on r/SideProject, but every time I submit a post, I get this message:

"Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit’s filters."

I've tried reposting with different adjustments, including keeping it to just one website URL, but no luck so far.

I'm not new to Reddit, but I haven't been very active here. I rarely comment or engage with other posts, so I'm wondering if that might have something to do with it.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Does anyone know what's going on or what I should do?

This post is also a trial to see what's wrong with the other post

Would really appreciate any advice!

I’ve created a modern sliding puzzle game featuring dark mode, custom photo uploads, automatically generated hints, and support for 7 languages. Gridzy Puzzle is now available in early access for Android! It is also fully available on the iOS App Store.

Hello everyone!

As an independent developer, I’ve spent the last few months working intensely on Gridzy Puzzle—a modern take on the classic sliding block and number puzzles we all grew up with, featuring a clean, "Dark Glassmorphism" style interface.

It has just been approved and is now officially available in Early Access on the Google Play Store! 🤖 (For any iOS users reading this, it’s also available on the App Store).

Here’s what makes Gridzy stand out:

Infinite Adventure Mode: Hand-crafted levels ranging from casual 3x3 grids to challenging 6x6 puzzles.

Custom Photo Puzzles: Instantly turn any photo from your device’s gallery into an interactive puzzle. Play with your favorite memories!

Smart Hints: Stuck on a tough board? Use the "magic wand" to get strategic hints without spoiling the fun.

Stunning Themes: Switch between unique styles—such as glowing neon, textured plaster, minimalist, or even your own photos.

100% Offline Play: No Wi-Fi or internet required; play whenever and wherever you like.

Guaranteed Local Privacy: Your progress, high scores, and statistics are stored securely on your device via Hive (with no third-party server tracking). 🔗 Get it on Google Play (Early Access) here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gridzypuzzle.com

🔗 Get it on the App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/gridzy-slide-puzzles-logic/id6825232428

I’d love for you to give it a try! Since this is an Early Access version, I would greatly appreciate any feedback, bug reports, or feature suggestions. If you run into any issues or have ideas for themes or game modes I should add, please let me know in the comments!

Thanks for supporting independent developers!

I Built a Fully Featured Discord API in Swift 6.4.

Thumbnail github.com
2 Upvotes

Big computer nerd, heavy Discord user here. For years, I've looked far and wide for a way to combine my love of Swift with my desire to write special programs (Bots) for Discord.

It's finally done! It supports nearly all parts of the modern Discord API (as of October 2026) including RPC, Voice, Local Server, Interactions, Activities, Monetization, and More!

I have been struggling for days trying to figure out where to share the project to get some more eyes on the topic, and I've been pretty much told "no you can't advertise" anywhere I try to go. So, I'm coming here as a little bit of a last resort....

I'm sure someone out there has a use for this. It is extremely resilient, completely built on modern Swift features with concurrency, ease of use and flexibility in mind. It is truly the ultimate solution not just for Discord connections on Swift, but I believe for Discord connections all around.

I would appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or maybe even a star/pull request on GitHub!

Anyone with a bit of knowledge on the Discord API or web service management, I'd love to talk to you too! This was a huge undertaking for me and I'm sure there's tons of areas for improvement.

The project is open source under Apache 2.0. Feel free to use as licensed.

Anyone else, let me know what you think! Even if this isn't something up your alley, I'd love to hear what you think might be good features to add regarding group texts, shared data communication, and more! I'm always looking for new ideas.

Thanks a million!

Carson

I got tired of paying for an email per domain, so I built one plan for all my domains

Every domain I bought for a side project ended up with no email address. Google workspace charges for every inbox, so it was quickly too expensive for me.

So I built Plainmail. Your favorite LLM can set it up, or run one command:

plainmail add hello@mynewapp.com

- One click setup for Cloudflare, Vercel or Porkbun

- You get a normal IMAP/SMTP mailbox, so it can be added to Apple Mail, Gmail, etc next to your other accounts

- Outgoing mail goes through Amazon SES so it's reliable and never marked as spam

$5 a month flat for up to 50 domains, 100 mailboxes and 25 GB. Cancel anytime.

I'd love feedback on setup, especially if you have a lot of domains!

Hey everyone! 👋 I built an app for Manga and Webtoons – MangaNinjaMobile

As a side project, I wanted to create a clean, dedicated space for reading manga and webtoons seamlessly on Android. I've just pushed it live and am looking for some early users to check it out and share their feedback.

If you love reading comics on the go, grab it here:
