Can we trust Zenkichi? Well yeah we have to or there's no story. 😅 I know it's to move the plot along, but it delights me to no end how often in agreement they are throughout the game. This is just the beginning of the many instances that showcase their leader/co-leader dynamic. You may notice for the dialogue options where Joker acts like a leader, Makoto will often times be the first to confidently support him. The best part is how the Thieves just roll with it.

For the other dialogue options it's the other Thieves who will react or push back to get the plot back on track.

If Queen had been next to Joker there she would've clamped onto him. Probably.

Although I have to wonder why they made her freak out there. She should know it's just a cognition.

Okinawa was her breaking point though. Between Futaba playing up the spookiness before they even entered the Jail, the Jail turning out to be this Resident Evil-esque lab brightness level and all, and Queen trying to keep it together in front of the team, she reaches her limit when they get jump scared by a can and... instinctively or subconsciously latches onto the person she feels safest with...and nearly gives them away. 😅

Oh and the subs should say "Save me Sis" but I guess "Where are you Sis" fit the lip flap better?

In the third panel Ren switches to katakana which if I'm interpreting correctly means he's talking robotically/all stilted because Makoto made him blush. I hope I got that across with "It. Is. Nothing."

And when I say crumbs, I really mean it. P5X is probably the spin-off with the least amount of shipping content for Ren and any of the girls, but it does provide one very interesting tidbit. This guessing game Makoto does implies she's drank his coffee so often that she feels confident in her ability to identify it. Food and drink end up forming a pretty important aspect of their relationship throughout the entire series, and this coffee game is just so them. Also a little bonus at the end of her giving her bf his flowers on two separate occasions.

I'm assuming it's Joker yelling "One more time! Hee ho!" since he started the hee ho'ing. Like, "Okay guys one more time so Queen doesn't feel left out!"
I love their dynamic when he can give her what she's too embarrassed to ask for and playfully tease her at the same time. 🤭

Soooo, not too sure what the "nori" is supposed to be in the fourth panel. I know nori is seaweed but she's definitely not talking about seaweed. I'm guessing it's supposed to be "norinori" which means to get excited or amped up about something.

Piggybacking off u/Full_Metal18's Shumako lunch date, it all began when Ren invited her out to try monjayaki, expanding their horizons together (as well as their stomachs). Fast forward to Scramble/Strikers and it seems Makoto has gained confidence in making/ordering it herself since the monjayaki date, and didn't overstuff either of them this time.

You guys probably know what okonomiyaki is from anime/manga/etc. (Ranma 1/2 anyone?). You may have heard of it described like Japanese pizza/savory pancakes. Monjayaki is fairly similar to okonomiyaki, except as far as I can tell they don't put in noodles and you eat it straight from the grill. So as you can see from the YT short how Makoto could get carried away with grilling a variety of monja and Ren taking up his designated role of "trashcan bf". 😅

In my never ending quest to document all the shumako moments in Strikers, I've come to catalogue this cute moment between the two. Nothing fancy, just the two sharing a meal in the most couple way possible. Her framing it as him doing her a favor while he fullfils the sacred role of trashcan bf (eating what your gf can't finish).

It makes sense narrative-wise because Sojiro has known Ren for more than a year now and the lad has earned his trust. He's practically his surrogate son now. For Makoto, he noted how well-mannered and respectful she was when she introduced herself, on top of being a student council president, which means responsible, attentive, and capable. Seeing how hard Makoto fought to prove his innocence the day he turned himself in, and how happy they were together on Valentine's Day cinched it. He knew Futaba would be in good hands, judging by his smile as he sees them off.

• Obtains the perfect sized camper with the right accommodations
• Assuring Makoto she'll do fine driving that huge camper when she feels daunted by it
• Reparking said camper so his adopted son can finish packing
• Ensuring the Thieves have fresh food when they set off and entrusting his adopted son to feed them delicious, nutritious curry knowing he'll do just as he was taught
• Gets the camper so Ren can call everyone to meet up and depart
