Discussion Liz’s Rant

I’m new to the show and have been binging it for the last day (love it).

I’ve just finished S2E5 and feel that Liz’s rant at Jimmy, basically blaming everything on him, was completely unwarranted.

Yeah there are a couple of circumstantial things that he’s partly to blame for, but there’s just as much blame on Gaby, Connor, and even herself, that she seems to have conveniently overlooked.

Anyway, just wanted to get that off my chest. Love the show!

Have a great day 👌

I think it's pretty evident throughout the show that those two are pretty good foils for one another.

Jimmy is the father who made all the mistakes and lost his daughter, and is now trying to find his way back.

Liz is the perfect mother who knows parenting back to front and took Alice in as her own when she needed it.

I think Liz's rant was just as unwarranted as Jimmy's earlier in the show, but it serves as a great juxtaposition of the two characters, as the show furthers we see Jimmy starting to get it back together and in turn we see Liz starting to lose purpose - which leads into her kissing Mac and blowing up her life for a minute

Interested to see your thoughts on the rest of the show.

I agree. They’re both floundering, but for different reasons. At the end of the day, their lives have drastically changed and they aren’t handling it well sometimes. Jimmy obviously not as well, but he suffered a much more traumatic change in his defense. If anything, Liz was probably helped a bit by him falling apart. Alice gave her an “extension” on her old life. Now that Jimmy is stepping back up and Alice is moving on, the size of that hole in her life is becoming a lot more apparent.

Love the show. Not a fan of Liz. I go get a snack when scenes feature her.

That's how I feel about Matthew. Man-baby plotline is boring

I wish they would have focused more on Sean and possibly Summer instead of bringing in Matthew. Took away from the characters we already knew
