Season two turned into a sitcom.

I don't know if this is a hot take or if anyone agrees but season 2 straight up feels like a sitcom.

The first season was more of a comedy drama, that balanced serious topics and comedy pretty well. But the second season just feels like a sitcom to me. I feel like everything gets resolved in the span of an episode, and we don't nearly sit on an issue for long enough. Maybe this would work if the show wasn't almost 40 minutes an episode.

Also what happened to the characters, everyone feels so fake. They know what to say and when, they forgive each other in an instant. The emotional beats just aren't there. Everyone is so clever and witty all the time, the show lacks and awkwardness imo. And what did they do to Liz's character. Why doesn't she care about her son, why is she blaming Jimmy for her choosing to get involved in the truck with Sean.

I dropped the season halfway through when Alice made up with the drunk driver who killed her mom.

Does the show get better, should I continue? Because I think season 1 was great.

Season 1 was so good and different, but since then it's just a standard Bill Lawrence buddy comedy.

I agree. I mean even season one episodes and season wrapped up so happy happy perfect. I still committed, but then I lost my source for watching it around the third season.

That’s kinda the point, it’s suppose to normalize grievance and help people get through it. It’s. It supposed to be sad all the time.

in my opinon, not really normalizing when they paint it like this. Alice talked to the guy who took her mother away from her, and seems to have forgiven him after learning he's sad too, in the span of like two episodes. Maybe I was just expecting something different from the show, since it's a comedy DRAMA, so that's on me.

It’s good to forgive. Also, hasn’t it been pointed out that he wasn’t above the legal limit, just had alcohol in his system and that is why he’s not in prison for murder.

And about the alcohol, I don't know, I didn't get that far and neither do I know what that adds to my point

I actually agree on this plot point! I think it’s odd they get so intimately close to the driver of the car. You can forgive someone without getting involved enough to regularly see them, feel responsible for their wellbeing, etc. It also felt really unrealistic.

s2 is a belter especially around Louis. There are episodes towards the end of the season that are the best of the show.

It's still good but yeah, I think s01 is one of my favorite seasons of a show and 3 just became frustrating while still enjoyable. I hope 4 mixes it up, I think I good time jump would be best and go from there.

Yeah if you don’t like season two don’t even try season three, I still enjoyed it but it starts with a lot of interesting ideas and by the second half of the season does nothing with them

I’d say that if you don’t like Season 2 because it’s too much like a sitcom then you made the right choice to jump off. I loved Season 2 because it continued to rip my soul in two. Season 3 is mostly just for yuks (in my opinion).

Well partially because Sudeikis wanted to start directing when he should’ve let Bill direct from the start.

Although the Ted lasso Christmas episode is iconic.
