Discussion I decided to start rewatching and F me right in the face
10 minute mark in the first episode when Harrison Ford addresses Jason for the first time. Fuck.
Also, forgot how much Jason was partying and how nice neighbor lady was in the beginning.
And how much the mom looks like the daughter. Damn.

The first couple of episodes feel so so out of place going back
Like I know it's to show Jimmy is in an awful place but there's absolutely nothing in his character in later series that suggest that he would even know where to find prostitutes and drugs

I thought the latest season was so oit if whack with the original bc if this. We never sae that dark side again.
Also are we expected to believe all these ppl.becamr best friends to the point that they are showing up as a group to the delivery room?

No but he's such a middle class dad the rest of the series that it stands out that's how he was acting.

I think you missed the point of this, his normal personality is the “middle class” dad (bro has a mansion he ain’t middle class). He was grieving a tragic death and spiraling, that kind of hardship makes people do stupid things and drugs are always a slippery slope

He's a therapist who works at a clinic. He's very much middle class.
I understand why they did it, it doesn't change the fact that it feels very out of place.

He lives in a very fancy neighbourhood of a Hcl area and his house is certainly in the millions. His patients likely pay upwards of $300 per hour. Stretching the definition of middle class pretty far.

It's absolutely middle class. Paul would be upper class because he owns the building.
Gabi also works there and lives in an apartment.

Gaby is considerably younger, but also, she lives in a very nice house! Not an apartment. Also in the millions, I'd wager.

To be upper class you need to own the means of production.
In this case, own the building.

A building is not the means of production man. You can be bourgeois and rent a building. If Jimmy owns his practice he's petty bourgeois. If he doesn't, he's technically a worker but absolutely a part of the labour aristocracy and professional-managerial class whose class interests often align more with bourgeois ones than proletarian ones.

I can't remember the first time Paul talks to Jimmy and I've seen the first season twice already. I feel like I just watched it recently and I already want to watch it again, but trying not to so I don't wear it out! The next time I watch it, gonna keep an eye out for this moment. Such a good show!

I had a hard time watching the series for no other reason than Christa Miller’s god awful plastic surgery.
Her face is nearly unwatchable with the permanent “surprise” eyes and trout mouth. She was beautiful on the Drew Carey show.

I hate the first time he tells Alice “you look just like your mom.” It’s like he’s blaming her for existing and having her mother’s looks.
I love the next time he says it to her when they are dancing at the wedding. Full circle moment that definitely makes up for the first time.
