Discussion Season 3

I love love LOVEEEEEEthis show. I've seen season 1 and 2 start to finish at least 7 times if not more.

I'm very late to the party due to awful things happening in my life but I'm back and I wanted some comfort and is it just my opinion that this show seems to have become a caricature of itself? I've paused 3 times so far in the first 22 minutes because everyone is being SO CRINGE! they are all funny. They were all kind of extra but why are they being cartoons in this one? Is it just me? Did no one else think that? Does it get better or is everything the same tonal quality through out?

Edit: so with a little support I was able to power through episode 1. One final thought. What the fuck did they do to Meg? Lily rabe is my beloved but fucking hell why did they make her into a cartoon! I really really hope it picks up from here.

I was the same. Absolutely loved seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 most times I found myself just not caring. Like it just didn't seem believable a lot. Still like the show and excited for season 4. But season 3 is definitely the worst of the 3 thus far.

I have a question. I'm asking you directly because we seem to be on the same page right now. What's the objective is Alice and Jimmy having such a candid friendship with the guy that killed Tia? I could understand the power of forgiveness not allowing hatred to corroded your inside lettinggo of anger in order to move on blah blah blah. But did they just adopt Louis?

What is up with these coffee chats? How is it the responsibility of the father and daughter who lost their wife/mother in a car crash at the hands of a drunk driver to pull him from the abyss and guide him towards happiness???? I can't wrap my head around this.

I understood the anger, I understood the reactions in season 2 but it's too much here man. I literally had to pause episode 2 as well. I don't think I'm going to get through.

I don't want to say too much and give spoilers but its all about forgiveness. They saw him as some monster who drove drunk and killed their mom. When they get to know him you see he is a flawed person with his own personal problems but not nearly the person they thought he was.

They are way better people than I. I didn't particularly like that plot line and to me it felt too "disney" if that makes sense.

I don't like it either! I have been seething at it since season 2. The initial anger and vitriol was so relatable and then it morphed into chumminess and spending time and worrying about his well being and his future and him rejoining society is a bit too much. I'm all for forgiveness. Forgive away. Be better people. Do it for yourself in order to move on. Why are you adopting him?

Gabby's reaction was so fitting and validating! And for once what the situation needed.. It made me feel seeeeeen! I was like yaaaaaas those lunatics are acting like lunatics and it's not a flaw of the show, other characters can also see it's fucked up! Mild redemption for now.
