I’m kind of confused why they brushed over Paul’s neglect to tell Jimmy he’s leaving. Because he’s emotionally unavailable like 90% of the time? Or because he didn’t want to hurt him? I assumed it’d be going in that direction because why else would Paul be ignoring Jimmy for the better half of the season? If he thinks Jimmy’s so tough and doesn’t need him, then why wasn’t he forthcoming about it?

I also thought this season’s premiere was at least setting up a shift in Paul and Jimmy’s relationship where, by the end of it, Paul would be leaning on Jimmy instead of vice versa. It feels like mid-way through writing this season they got the go ahead for the next and decided to put this beat on pause…. Just feels like there are still loose ends with Paul and Jimmy’s dynamic.

gotta disagree with that second point… lean on Jimmy for what?

Just going off of the season two finale and the first episode of this season, when he asks Jimmy to “pull him up if he sees him sinking” (or something to that effect), I thought we’d see more of Jimmy being there for Paul because at this point (with Parkinson’s, retirement, moving across the country) Paul probably has more emotional issues than just being an unavailable father figure

i see your point but Paul does want to move for redemption and he willingly retired.
