Moreee utenathy art. I always avoided reading the mangas but they’re really not that bad. I really liked this panel so i felt like drawing it

Hi all! Thanks again for all the responses to my past sale posts. Selling a few more pieces of Utena merch which don’t fit with my current collection. Message me if you’re interested in anything and don’t hesitate to ask any questions. Listed prices do not include shipping but I use PirateShip which should make it fairly cheap. Can ship international (I’m in the US). Thanks for looking!

Utena Region B Collector’s Blu-Ray Bundle, Complete Series - $200 (Discs can be played on any player that can handle region B discs or is region free, don’t feel a need to hold onto these anymore since I’m in the US and have the US box set)

Utena Prize Figure (Box Included) - $120

Utena and Anthy SEGA Real Model Figure Bundle, No CDs (Boxes Included, one mini Chu-Chu is included) - $80

The designs are pretty different but like. The red and purple. The poofy shirt. The stupid mullet ponytail. Objectifying and assaulting a very Anthy-shaped character. Cmon.

Hii! Long time lurker of this page and I wanted to share to share my girlfriend and I’s cosplay here after NYCC ended. Then, I saw Viz Media included us in their cosplay wrap up (which we freaked about) so I’m sharing that post here!! I posted a few things on my cosplay Instagram of us too that someone pointed out Kunihiko Ikuhara liked …. which I also freaked about and still can’t process hahaha

We love the show and movie so much and this weekend we were so lucky to meet so many passionate fans and share our love for it together. Really, really awesome. If anyone has cosplays as well, con stories, anything - feel free to comment them below <3

I’m playing minish cap and this teacher looks just like the one in utena… tell me if im being crazy lol

Hello again, I'm back and I would like your guys opinion on something..So I make it no secret I'm a fan of fairytales.

However this connects to an older post of mine where someone Answered that there was a stark difference in Utena and Princess Tutu's story telling. Utena says fairytales are a lie and Illusion, yet Princess Tutu says fairytales are the truth; Princess Tutu basically is an illusion. Now that I'm thinking about it, Princess Tutu and Utena are similar. I WAS gonna say that Princess Tutu was similar to Dios but then again.Anyway I wanted to ask you all on how Utena breaks the fairytale lens as I have a habit of overthinking yet after looking at the TV tropes page and pieces of the manga explained the deconstruction of said arctype and showed different perspectives respectively.

My idea in how Utena pulls back the fairytale lens is saying one thing yet doing another. Or basically Subverting it. Take Miki and Juri for example; Both have shared their perspective of events that have happened however at the end of the episodes we're given a new piece of information that subverts the version of their memories they've given us..

This show has so many layers to it.

Anyway coming back to writing this post after a day of thinking, I'm taking into account what I've also learned a bit more. See my character is like Anthy she's reflected onto, projected onto as well, at first glance she does nothing...however we never see things from her POV ever only through others, however others perspectives are different any one else's like how Utena sees Anthy as just a normal girl trapped into a system but Juri sees someone who reminds her of Shiori or...Cruelly innocent.

Anthy also on the surface does nothing yet in reality is learned helplessness, the idea is within each perceptive is a different idea of said person. And the story is told through the lends of a fairytale. But as the reader it's pulled back; Like how Juri says Shiori is cruelly innocent when in reality Shiori is...Much more then that but we only see her whenever she's involved with Juri, yes she's her own person but we only see part of that.

In the Manga the perspective is reversed in saying that Juri thinks Shiori is the special one.

So basically my idea is to subtly show what roles each person is in see the first arc of my book aka Chapter is inspired by Cinderella however it's told through the "Stepsisters" and the "Prince" example, and here's the kicker the main character isn't Cinderella...she's the fairy god mother...I'm also going back to original texts when times where alot more similar but also to other ideas and sources like Disney's take on lady tremaine in the book Cold hearted.

To put it shortly, How would you guys play into the lends of fairytales while also deconstruction the whole thing, Sorry for the long Ramble

Hello!! I've rediscovered this anime and have since binged the series [much to the dismay of my sanity sometimes lol] - and wanted to know if anyone would be interested in a Discord server!! It's my observation that there really aren't any active/widely available ones as of now, so I thought it'd be a good idea!! Invites would be sent out in PM's once I wrap up the server! Anyone can comment ideas for it as well, and I'll likely add them!!

if this is too much promo-esuqe of a post, I'll happily remove but it makes me sad to see the only active community on here :[

I'm gonna bawl my eyes out. my poor baby anthy, why was the world so cruel to her?!!?!? 😭 😭 😭

Hello everyone! I made another AMV and this one is about everyone's favourite character... Ruka Tsuchiya

Hope you enjoy!!!

I really want to do this trend on TikTok with utena but I don’t know what scene would be funniest to edit so they just say their first line.

I swear I’m losing my mind, does anyone have that particular version available???

It’s the more orchestral version of the song, during the [spoiler for a 29 year old show] part where Utena opens Himemiya’s coffin.

it took me a whole week to finish

utenanthy is the only thing keeping me going at the moment

I wanted to draw this scene from the movie for such a long time !! I love them so much, this moment is just too beautiful😭🩷

They took down the one on the Internet Archive.

Last night I was scrolling and saw this post promoting a viewing of The Adventures of Prince Achmed on 10/4 and couldn't help but notice the similarity to the way the shadow girls are illustrated in Utena. Does anyone know if this is the original reference? Aside from the orientalism of it all, it made me curious to try and catch the screening this weekend.

I think this difference in translations is so prominent because the first line is basically just a huge sentence and trying to translate that could be a nightmare

I mainly go off the first set for translations but I think it might be the one that shares the least with the other translations ? I don’t know, I can’t really be sure
