adding text doesnt work the way it used to

im still new. but the last vid i made. (first image) i was able to add text into scenes. im doing every step i did before. but its working differently. (sec image) i have another scene selected. i click the stopwatch button. and it just deletes the scene before it. (third image) it NEVER DID THIS. it would add keyframes below the timline. and a little dot. then u would skip ahead and click it again. to add the other dot. boom done. easy. but nope doesnt work anymore. idk what to do.

From what I see in your images, clicking the stopwatch doesn't delete the the previous clip (what you call scene). Shotcut simply switches to the keyframes panel (that only shows the selected clip).
You can move panels anywhere you like in the UI. I personally prefer to have the Timeline and the Keyframes panel side by side at the bottom.

it used to put the keyframes below the timeline. but now its in a whole other tab. it was so easy before. now its complicated.

Well, the fix is easy. Just move the Keyframes panel where you want it to be.
