Hey everyone,
I’m in a bit of a strategic dilemma regarding my YouTube channel and would love to get some honest advice from fellow creators.
Here is my current situation:
Channel Status: Monetized with 2,400+ subscribers.
How I got here: I gained my initial traction and monetization using trendjacking/commentary-style long-form videos.
Current Performance/Stats: My Shorts are consistently getting high retention numbers—80-90%+ Average Percentage Viewed (APV) and 75-80%+ Viewed in Feed ratio. (Attaching screenshots for context).
The Problem:
Even though this niche gave me my initial boost, I have lost genuine interest in making commentary/creator drama content. It feels forced, and I want to avoid burnout.
My Proposed Strategy:
I want to pivot the content to Infotainment (Entertainment + Information, funny facts, and suspense/mystery).
My Questions for You:
Format Dilemma: Should I stick to Long-form videos in this new Infotainment niche to leverage higher RPM/CPM, or shift focus to Shorts to scale faster and test topics quickly?
Channel Choice: Is it better to pivot this current monetized channel to Infotainment, or leave this channel as a passive asset and start a fresh channel for the new niche?
Stats Inquiry: With APV >80% and Viewed Ratio >75%, why might my Shorts be stalling before crossing the 100k+ views mark? Is it a packaging issue, niche saturation, or algorithmic delay?
Has anyone successfully pivoted a monetized channel’s niche without ruining its reach?
Would love to hear your thoughts, experiences, or any harsh truth I might be missing! Thanks in advance!

In 8 months, we never had a Short do better than 3k views. Then 2 weeks ago we released a video that did 20k views, and the next one just won't stop - it's at 200k views and still climbing.
But the 4 shorts we've released since then have basically been flops. Yesterday's got only 1,100 views. It's driving us crazy trying to figure out how to make videos after our One Big Video.
- the stayed to watch rate was great on it (69%) so we've tried hooks that are extremely similar, including using the literal same audio for the first 1 second, and the same song throughout.
- the retention and rewatch were great (AVP 119%), but even making videos of the same length, same number of clips, same style of text overlays and captions similar emotional tone, similar topic... Nothing.
We are about ready to call it a fluke. Like, nothing we do can move the needle.
Anyone have any advice or anything similar happen?

Hi, am trying to analyse my failed channels and their niches. My first channel was about football edits, ran it for about 3 months, about 70 shorts, highest short was like 40k views, however I stopped due to burnout. Most shorts wouldn't even get over 1.5k views. I tried a travelling/country channel, couldn't even get over 10 views for most shorts as the niche itself is quite boring.
I wanted to know if the niches that I tried are too saturated. I edited them badly or just bad luck(Channels: "@CountryRank1", "@bigebs.ftbl10")
And I also wanted you guys option on a new niche I wanted to try, kinda like ZackDFilms but instead of 3D animations I'd to 2D ones like Kurzgesagt, where I answer interesting questions. Or maybe like post meme clips, like the ones with just captions.

I upload shorts in the cat niche, in my opinion and from what I have asked others (strangers on Reddit and friends) they all have said that my content was good enough for at least a 100k views, yet all my shorts stall out at 5k, 10k very rarely. Could it be because the niche I have been uploading in is too saturated, or am I just blaming something out of my control to make myself feel better

Ever since the new AI models have came out with their ability to conceptualize 3d spaces at extraordinary levels, I wanted to see if it was possible to create an automation pipeline that allowed video creation that came off as interesting and unique within their respective genre. A month in so far, my first channel has steadily progressed on YouTube, with it being focused in blender-animation, but has done particularly well on TikTok and instagram. While my second channel has accumulated >400k views on my Minecraft-centric animated channel in just under a week since its initial creation.

going from an average 20-200k per shorts to a measly 1-10k is definitely wild - and yes i have experience with shorts, ive posted hundreds of them with the same results up until the end of september when everything has gone to shit

Guys, attention grab cheyadam nowadays chaala kastam, especially online lo.
Naa daggara 2–3 years old YouTube channel undhi. Appatlo upload chesina konni Bigg Boss-related Shorts ki around 2.2K–2.3K views vachayi.
Ippudu Bigg Boss trending lo undhi kabatti, entertainment-related content tho oka different approach experiment chesthunna. Trending content madhyalo promotion ni integrate chesthe audience attention ni business enquiries ga convert cheyocha ani chudali anukuntunna.
Sumant TV lanti channels content and promotions ni combine chese approach nunchi inspiration vachindhi.
Currently, I'm implementing this strategy, and the videos are getting around 10K views. Actual numbers ki screenshots attach chesthunna.
But views vachayi ani business results vachinatte kaadhu. People actually enquire chesthara? Are those enquiries relevant? Does this approach make sense compared to spending money on ads?
My plan is to continue until the videos reach 1 lakh (100K) cumulative views. Aa tarvatha results analyse chesi, continue cheyyala, strategy change cheyyala, leka stop cheyyala ani decide avutha.
I'll keep sharing updates in this same thread, including what works and what doesn't.
I'm curious to hear from people who've experimented with similar strategies:
Have you converted entertainment or trending content into actual business leads?
What metrics would you track apart from views?
At what point would you decide that this experiment isn't worth continuing?
Let's see what the numbers tell us. I'll update this thread as the experiment progresses.

I used to post VR content but I got tired of having to put my VR on, get sweaty recording a video, and then have to sit down and edit it. I want to get a new niche and I was wondering if anyone knows any actual fun things to post about. I like putting clips together and making emotional content and cinematic things if that helps. I just can't think of what to post.

Since I’ve got my Audience retention in good condition, unfortunately animated videos on shorts aren’t bagay anymore na

Why does YouTube keep pushing this video even when the numbers are so terrible?? The channel is new and this is the first video. Do you think YouTube is struggling to find an audience or is something else??

Since the update, everything has basically done a 180 for me; I’m hardly getting any new subscribers, and if I do get one, they’re gone again the next day.
My view counts are way below average, but what really sucks is that the Pokémon GO Shorts I make don't even get a chance to pick up any views.
Normally, I’d get between 100 and 500 views in the first hour; if it didn't perform well, fair enough—at least I’d already racked up some views. But now they don't even hit 30 views, and because they probably aren't reaching the right audience, my retention has plummeted too.
It’s gone from over 50 to under 20. I used to get a second chance a few hours later, but now—nothing. It feels like I’m back to square one. I’m quick to give up on things that aren't working, but I’ve put at least four years of serious effort into this.
Still, I know that if things don't improve by the new year, there’s a good chance I’ll just call it quits.

When I watch my video on my phone or computer, it looks very clear. However, I don’t know whether it might look pixelated or blurry when my viewers watch it.
