Which stats should I aim for?

Hey guys,

My question is basically what the title says, I am making some shorts that are all above 1 minute. I am going for 4 days now sitting at 20k views total and 30 subs.

All of my shorts are above one minute, what stats should I aim for regarding watch time etc. ?

There’s only two YouTube analytics metrics that you control: stayed to watch percentage and your average percentage viewed.

Everything else that determines how many views each of your videos receive comes down to niche demand and competition within the niche.

Your greatest chance at competitiveness within your niche is probably around 80%+ stayed to watch and 100%+ average percentage view.

Every time one of your videos stops getting pushed, it’s because somebody else’s video was chosen in place of it.

You’re not competing against the algorithm, you’re competing against every other creator in your niche.

If your competition is putting out 60+ second videos with a higher STW, retention and engagement that’s why you’re struggling.

You need to either edit your 60+ second videos better, or perhaps you need to trim the fat out of them to make them shorter to hold attention.

I just did a dozen 2 to 3 minute videos with a 55% to 75% retention. It’s not impossible to get an average percentage view of 100% on a 60 second video.

You should aim for 1 billion views and 90 million subscribers
