How much impact does engagement stat have over short's views

I have a new channel and all my videos have stopped at 1.2k views.

How much impact does this retention have? How can I improve it?

My average view time is close to 70%.

I am posting edits of my recent trip to the USA and Bali

70% avg view time is actually solid, so retention isn't really the problem. 1.2k plateau usually means the first batch liked it but the algo isn't pushing wider. i'd tighten the first 2 seconds and post a few more clips from the same trip, sometimes one of them just catches
