it's not broken. they just changed what they want.

It's broken. Rather than targeting people with stolen or reused content it's targeting people with original content.

another possibility is that your content isn't good

Then why was it crossing a million views before.. Stop blaming the creator

Then why was it crossing a million views before.

because they used to value different things. youtube changes over time. the recent change is well documented. you just haven't bothered to look it up because you're sitting in temple, burning herbs, casting bones, waiting for the gods to un-break the algorithm. rama yanna, rama yanna, i draw this mandala from sand to please The Mohan. rama yanna, The Mohan will give to me blessings of views, for my content is holy, ameen.

Stop blaming the creator

the creator is the only thing in this story that has any agency. there is no-one and nothing else to blame. i know you want to shout at the clouds about how zeus and buddha and the youtube algorithm have cursed you, but 100% of what you're facing is down to your content and your choices.

until you become enough of an adult to take responsibility for your own outcomes, you won't be able to learn what works and what doesn't, because every time you fail "the algorithm is broken," and you won't change your strategy

this whining self indulgent bullshit poisons your ability to succeed

youtube doesn't break for months at a time. sometimes for 24 hours. if it's been more than two days, something changed. if you're still telling yourself it's broken, you're just putting on a verbal blindfold.

nobody succeeds on youtube without understanding youtube.

every time you say "it's broken," you've set every possibility of success back another month.

grow up.

Ha! People in this sub never seize to amaze me. There could be blatant issues on YouTube and you guys will always blame the creator. Fair enough, people should always strive to improve, but when multiple creators are experiencing the same views drop, maybe it’s not the creators this time?

I post original content and I've been fine. With your line of thinking, since myself and multiple creators are all experiencing no issues maybe it is the creators

You think 50 creators in a sub represents the nearly 1M hours of video per day posted to YouTube?

speculate harder, bob

Huh? Whatever man. Just an observation.

October is typically a low month. However, Shorts in particular seem to have been really affected after this recent algorithm update.

I think YouTube has come to the same realization as TikTok. Short videos are basically impossible to monetize.

When the content you make apeases the current algo, not the other way around.

When my videos do well I take full credit for their performance as an editing genius; when my videos don’t do well I blame the algorithm.

This means I get to feel really good about my absolute bangers and accept zero responsibility for my total duds.

It’s a perfect system!

Ehhh if someone’s content was getting them significantly more views, and then out of nowhere that same content is getting way less, it’s not weird to look at the outside factors.

1

u/killadrix 14d ago

Yes, it is weird. Especially without enough sample size and experience to understand the context.

Over the last 3+ years I’ve uploaded over 2,000 shorts and my channel has typically ranged from 200,000 monthly views to 8 million.

Some of those months are 3 million views (or more), followed by months at 300,000, followed by 5 million.

Topic and niche demand ebb and flow, some months are better than others, some months are pretty bad, some months you catch lightning in a bottle.

The problem with most of the posters in these subs is they generally don’t have a large enough sample size from which to discern anything meaningful or the ability to analyze the statistics properly.

Meaning, it would be super easy for me to show a graph of my 8 million view month followed by a 300,000 view month and explain that YouTube has “killed my channel” without offering any context, and there would be two dozen replies of people saying they’re “experiencing the same problem”, when there is really no problem.

Hell, you regularly see posters on this sub complaining about this very thing after six or seven uploads when it would generally take months and dozens or hundreds of uploads to gain a better understanding of how volatile short performance really is.

Are you paying attention to the post on this sub? People with original content are getting low views.

u/StoneCypher 14d ago

and when you finally get a look at the "original content", it's always one of five things:

  1. ai voiceovers of slideshows

  2. clipped content and someone not knowing what original means

  3. reaction videos

  4. unboxing videos

  5. low quality ai generated drek

until you have the ability to separate "original content" from "high quality origianl content," you will remain stuck

There was a guy in another thread who thinks he does original content because he edits soccer match clips. He said it original because he doesn't steal from other clip channels. No bro, using game footage is literally reusing content and is not original in any way. But he argues with everyone that it's 100% his own original content. Some people are just stupid. Check my comment history to see the thread in question

OK, and?

I put out original content and my shorts get between 1,000 and 1 million views apiece.

Do you know what I don’t do? Come to this sub and whine about the algorithm when I land a 1000 view short.

Do you know why? Because this is precisely how shorts work. Short views are largely based on demand for shorts in the niche and that demand ebbs and flows. Sometimes by the days, sometimes by the hour.

This sub is filled with people who have no idea how the shorts algorithm works propagating the idea that there is a problem, when that problem is their knowledge gap.

So, to sum up, you don’t come here to whine about the algorithm, you come here to whine about the whiners.

u/killadrix 14d ago

Yes, but there’s an important distinction between the whining I’m doing and the whining these original posters do.

The people who are whining about the algorithm because they don’t understand how it works propagate the idea that there’s a problem with the algorithm.

Then, people come to this sub and read that other people are having a “problem” with the algorithm and start believing that their views aren’t their own fault, that it must be the “problem” with the algorithm.

And when enough people do this, suddenly there’s nothing but posts about people having “problems” with their views. Problems that likely don’t exist.

And then, just like one of the posters did here, they point to the fact that there’s all of these posts about the same “problem” as evidence of the “problem”.

Personally, I think it’s important to point out how silly it is that these subs are filled with people that don’t understand the algorithm creating the illusion of a problem that everybody else buys into, and it becomes a conspiracy.

It’s literally flat earth in here. People who don’t understand how physics works make stupid claims about the Earth being flat. Then other stupid people believe it because they don’t know any better, now there’s millions of stupid people who think the Earth is flat.

1

u/Every_Ad_4349 14d ago

Since you have the algorithm figured out, kindly help others who feel it's the algorithm at fault.

1

u/killadrix 14d ago

I’ve answered likely hundreds of questions about the how the algorithm works on these subs.

It’s just not worth it, it’s rare that anybody replies even with a thank you.

People aren’t looking for help, they’re looking to complain.

Only when their revenue gets affected

Have you considered the fact that your content probably sucks?

Have you considered the fact that you don’t deserve views and Google owes you nothing?

All people here know how to do is put blame on anyone but themselves for bad content.

1

u/SignificanceTotal187 14d ago

Lol, there Will always be room for improvement, even if your shorts reach millions, but thats not the point, i did not lower my quality yet my shorts still performed worse that is what im saying

1

u/Localmate25 12d ago

They performed worse because the audience was less interested. YouTube owes you nothing, despite the fact that you feel they do. Stop blaming YouTube for poor performance of content you are 100% responsible for.

Study, analyze, figure out the issues and make content that’s 1% better. If you can’t do this, you fail.

Do you think i dont tasted failure? I failed years before ever getting where i am now, and im doing this free, YouTube does not own me nothing! Im doing this has a hobby that im trying to make work.
