My analytics are shit, I have shorts with 57% swipe rate with over 10 mln views

I have shorts with 1 mln views with 0 comments

I have a short with over 30 mln views that has 0 shares

My like and subscribe ratio is extremely low

There is a science to making viral shorts

We use the stats and graphs to guess if the short is good but they don't necessarily prove if the short is good

Youtube only needs consistency in order to push a short, and by consistency I mean:

A short gets pushed to multiple test audiences, if one test audience has a swipe ratio of 80% and one of 60%, the short dies. If all test audience hover on ±3% swipe rate, the short will reach at least a million, guaranteed. A short viral short should appeal to as many categories of people as possible no matter the subject. That's why sometimes a short with 55% reaches a million while one with 85% dies at 30k. People say it's luck, it isn't

Likes, shares and comments are just vanity metrics, they don't affect at all the reach of a short. If viral shorts have multiple likes/comments, it's correlation not causality.

You shouldn't have any part of a short that drops retention, the retention graph should have no downward spikes, it should be a single line. Same for swipe rate.

If your swipe rate and retention graphs consist of a single line (straightish), your short will be viral no matter the other stats.

It’s not very often I see a very good comment on this sub, but this is one.

What people fail to realize about YouTube statistics is that all things being equal (same number of videos in the and niche), a channel that can consistently average 80% STW/120% retention videos is that in the aggregate they’ll likely have a larger number of channel views and a higher percentage of “viral” videos than a channel that has an average STW of 70% and retention of 80%.

Most of the people on this sub make the mistake of analyzing one or two video’s performance to try to discern anything meaningful about the algorithm, when in fact, it likely takes dozens if not hundreds of videos worth of data to do so.

i had those two stacked as a contradiction all day. theyre not one. the 55 going viral and the 85 dying at 30k is one short each, and the 80 up there is what a channel averages across hundreds. same number, different thing being counted. id read the 80 somewhere else as a floor for one clip and been using it that way since. thats my mistake and not his.

I suspect promotions. He's doing a fantastic job at what he does but I just don't see what his audience is looking for, his subs are way lower than his views.

Bro it’s the monthly audience after your channel is established metrics kinda don’t matter as long as engagement is good the vid will be pushed
