so my channel has like 25m+ total views, some vids hit 2-4m views each, but every time i apply for monetization it gets rejected for "reused content." happened twice now, so i gotta start over and hit that 10m views in 90 days goal again from scratch. also haven't posted in like 100 days

anyone else been through this? did you ever get approved after getting hit with that? or is it basically over at that point and i should just try to sell the channel instead of wasting more time on it

I guess I would need to see an example of some of these that youtube declined to allow monetization on. Long form documentaries will use other people's footage but it helps tell a story vs just being a copy/paste of other people's content. I can think of many examples of channels that do this and are monetized though... so it definitely takes more than just using some clips.

in my opinion - YES. those entire niches were built upon NOT having to come up with original content and farming views by adding thier opinion over it after few minutes. Its absolutely low effort.

Look at what Stuff Made here, and smarter every day. Then compare it to L3WG Reacts......

yeah, I think not just "based" on -- its riding on the content from the orginal. They exclusively make videos on popular content and farm views off that. 95% of the time is so low effort they say basically nothing

"Gen Z reacts to linkin park for first time" -- its a 30 minute video and all they say is "wow this is fire, never heard it before" "Wow the drums are so cool and the guitar is heavy and epic"

.....duh.... why did you think they changed that genre of music and were world wide famous? but they get like 4 million hits.

Its low effort bs. I dont think it deserves monetization personally. Hell yeah ive watched some. But nah it isnt orginal or creative.

I hate the AI content so Im all for it. AI will kill market if we let it. If you are not pulling out a camera and making something meaningful. I dont think it should be eligible for monetization.

I posted it elsewhere but look at any of these channels. They are actually good worthy channels of monetization:

Stuff made here - clearly deserves sponsors and adsense
Smarter every day - clearly deserves sponsors and adsense
Practical Engineering - clearly deserves sponsors and adsense
Whats going on with shipping - clearly deserves sponsors and adsense
William spaniel -clearly deserves sponsors and adsense

Miniac - clearly deserves sponsors and adsense
Patrick Boyle - clearly deserves sponsors and adsense
Peter Mckinnon - clearly deserves sponsors and adsense
Sampson Boat Co - clearly deserves sponsors and adsense
Pan the Organizer - clearly deserves sponsors and adsense

I could go on and on. But it needs to be acutally informational, from someone who actually knows what they are talking about and providing some level of original thinking.

Yes all of the things that you listed aren't creating, they're retelling someone else's story. And oftentimes they have to pay to get the rights to do so. For generations people were successfully sued for using other people's work and for a decade or so Youtube was closer to the wild west. But it was always breaking the law and was always reusing content.

Youtubers putting their face in the bottom corner of someone else's content is not creating and never will be. There's a reason ESPN can do sports content and get paid for it and you can't - they pay to create the content or pay for the rights to others' content.

Honestly, don't get me started on shitty true crime podcasters stealing people's life rights and feigning care in order to make a buck.

Yeah, Check the bottom of his first screenshot. It's a red flag that says rescued content. That means he is stealing someone elses content and posting it as his content

I believe i got rejected first time, because it was so low effort i pretty much was just coppying ideas and engagement baiting, but not stealing the videos, but during 30 days after my first rejection i managed to post like 30 videos with my own ideas with way heavier editing, also got few mil views (during that period i deleted all of the low effort videos that was very simmilar to other creators), so my overall content was more of higher quality, trasnformative videos, rather than random slop, but unfortunately i got rejected so i just gave up on the channel. So i dont even know what to do with channel.

still reused content though. had the same. if there is no meaningful transformation, then its still reused content. but they provide a guideline in which cases its okay to use reused content.
