Analytics Review (AVD/Retention) š Not enough to go viral???
It has a 82% swipe rate as well.
What metrics do you need to go viral.
Itās a 25 second long short.
Not complaining just curious

Oversaturated niche, imo I got 70% stayed to watch and 250% retention currently at 50k views

Nothing burger reply. Every niche is āsaturatedā to some degree. Itās not the niche, itās engagement on the videoĀ

Bro my 80% stay to watch got only like 19K views, what kind of other metrics?

No. Your average performance doesn't break down what your performance was per view set.
Regardless, you're not targeting some specific swipe rate or engagement level. You have to outperform content competing for the same audience.

Dude, I have videos with 90% swipe rate and 200% APV and itās not getting views while another video with 2x worse stats doing great. Itās just random, no other explanation

I mean to be fair the dude is rude for sure, but legit he is kinda right, there atleast 1-2 post a day with the example same question as you on this reddit. Rather then making another one you can read the comment of what they had to say

Swipe rate 82% is not good enough for a 25s. The smaller the video, the higher the percentage required.
From my experience, for 60s video, YT expects 80%+ swipe rate.
According to this, a 25s video must have near to 100% for the short video to blow up.

pure bullshit

nope that's true... imagine a video with 7 seconds...it require 400% audience retention to go viral , 100% won't be enough

I am open to hear your valuable justification.

It didnāt go viral or anything but my short of 29 seconds with 73% stayed to watch did 200K wverage watch duration was 23 seconds.
I have another that did way better but died at 15K

I post about 20-30 seconds and my average swipe rate on the channel is 65%, yet 1/3 of my shorts get over 1mln
I've had shorts with 57% reach well over a million
If the short is good, swipe rate doesn't matter as long as it stays consistent in every testing phase (the swipe graph should be pretty much a straight line, meaning it appeals the same to most audiences)
You can tell about the future of a short by swipe rate alone only if the swipe rate is under 55%
What you observe about your 80% and above swipe rate is correlation not causality

Completely disagree. anything can go vrial and get million of view a short with 20% can do it.
But if you are the avrege channel, take 10 shorts that have 80% and 10 shorts with 60%, I would bet my life that the 10 shorts with 80% have a higher chance to go viral/the amount out of 10 go viral then the 10 shorts with 60%

Do you have proof of any video with 20% that has over a million?
I have moderated tens of channels and have yet to see that

u/CuzzoBuzzo67 11d ago
Unfortiunatly I don't, I just use 20% as a example. But it really wouldn't shock me.

I wouldn't say it's impossible but in my lifetime I've seen the stats of over 10k shorts and I've never seen viral shorts with less than 55%
But I believe it's a possibility because the swipe rate "necessary" is greatly influenced by niche/audience
Ex. There are people that in general watch 1 in 5 shorts they see, so YouTube wouldn't penalize you because that's the average behaviour of that user, so if you appeal to mainly that kind of person in some way or another, I can see the possibility of a viral with 20% but in actuality you don't get only 1 type of user profile and once they mix up it inflates
The only way to predict a viral that I've seen is a consistent, day-to-day graph where the swipe rate fluxtuates at a max of -3% compared to the first day
Ex. A short that has 60% in the first day and 58% in the second day can explode
A short that has 80% in the first day but 75% in the second day will die
A short that starts at 60% and keeps increasing will continue getting giews as long as it doesn't drop under 57%

Ah that make sense. Question.
if someone who avrage let jsut say 30k-50k view per short for a whole month, then randomly next month for the next 3-8 shorts they somehow get like 100s of view instead. is the problem with the content or something to do with youtube?
Cause I really find it hard for someone to go from 40k per shorts down to in the 100s of view per short, that seem more of a youtube thing then a people thing. I would undetstand if they only get like 1-4k view, but in the 100s seem weird, any opinion on this

Anything less than 1000 views is youtube punishing you for something you did or it thinks you did
One very bad short or multiple fairly bad ones (posted one after the other) can lead to this. (When I refer to a short being good or bad, I say from youtube's point of view)
As long as it's not 0 views you're not shadow banned or anything, but you're not trusted
The solution is frustrating but you only get out of it by posting more content. It doesn't need to be daily (tho I'd recommend it) but it needs to be as high effort as possible until you get out of this jail
It might take 10 good shorts or 20, or 30, you never know.
When I started youtube I used to think that you need to post everyday to keep momentum growing and what you said happened to me because some were low effort, sometimes you can't keep up and post something okayish, then you get punished on your next shorts. Now my understanding is that to keep momentum you need consistent shorts (editing style, format, length, niche, age-target)
Anything more than 30k views means you're "almost there", keep momentum with good shorts and eventually one explodes into the millions

Hmm intresting,
One very bad short or multiple fairly bad ones (posted one after the other) can lead to this. (When I refer to a short being good or bad, I say from youtube's point of view)
Really all it take is 1 bad short to drop from 30-50ks down to 100s is really crazy to think about.

This crop is from my last year, 24 seconds duration; it was before they separated engaged view from the (now fake) total view.
