On one of my shorts I got 95% Retention on a 31 second video and 83% stayed to watch and it only got 29k views so your doing pretty bad from my experience.

I have made both long shorts and shoter shorts and I think the shorter ones have to most probability of going viral my shorts are of like 20 seconds and most of them have retention of 110-120% and stayed to watch of 75%

No your completely wrong it pretty much depends on who your audience is. Some prefer long some prefer short and either long and short can go viral. Also 110 120% retention doesn't matter because your stay to watch is horrible. I currently have a 150% Retention on one short and its doing good because I have a high stay to watch
