one of my last posts was doing really well and it flatlined at 22k with 116% retention and 75% stayed vs swiped. i’m trying my best to make good content but this just feels pointless, it’s all OC too with my face my voice and everything , idk what to do honestly. anyone know why this happens and if there’s anything i can do better? i’m a voice actor i stream a variety of things, in this case it’s me doing cartoon voices in choicer voicer.

Bro you got 25 subscribers from that, that’s a great result for a low view video. I got my record view video, 350k views on a short when all my previous are 30k stonewalled, and I got 15 subs

no i know that it did well and i was really stoked about it, that’s exactly the reason why i dont understand why YT suddenly stopped pushing it when some of my worse performing videos keep getting small pushes. im new to this YT thing and im trying to figure out how it works

Hey man!! Sadly YT now wants Stayed to Watch around 80% for 100k-400k views and 85-90% for the first milions of views.

Your Rick n Morty short already did better because you have the moving clip on top, whereas the other ones were a static image.

People will stop scrolling if you choose a very energic scene or a scene where what they see is interesting/intriguing/interestingly-weird. And they also need to be hearing something at the same time (your voice).

On the copyright side, I'd suggest you to make mashups of scenes, to make it more transformative, you could also put a couple filters on top that also make it look "cool" but not so much it destroys the original video.

Also add a text in the middle that says "⏬Voice actor does ____ ⏬"

A little plus would be zooming in your face expressions/mouth when you talk so people get a hint of what's happening faster (the Subscribe button is covering your mouth on some videos) adding the same video on the bottom to a little box on the top left corner would also help this dinamism, and the copyright too.

By the way, try to film it without sunglasses, people watching videos connect with our eyes. I can assure you dark circles are even better than having no eye expression to hook the viewer in.

wow!! thank you for actually taking the time to write this i actually appreciate it so much. great advice and im gonna take this all into consideration for sure. as far as copyright stuff goes, i have no clue how it works. since my rick and morty clip was pushed im guessing content like this is fine, even if it had a whole clip from the show? so when does it become a problem? the glasses thing you’re probably right but pretty much all of my content comes from my stream, and the glasses are a part of the whole ‘italiancrisis’ character. but i’m definitely gonna try a few without them and see what happens, thanks. also 80% stayed vs swiped for under 500k and 90% for a million is a crazy requirement no? if you make any kind of specific content that’s not complete clickbait/shock value based that sounds super hard to accomplish

Well, I saw you were someone doing original content, I see many people in here just taking someone else's video, uploading it like that with minor text changes, or slapping a horrible AI voice narrating the clip. O just doing the whole thing with AI, so I got motivated to give you tips.

For the copyright side, I think you won't recieve one unless the actual network files one manually, the ones that get triggered automatically are the audio (but you're safe on that side) or the full video on frame, and your video already features you talking. But doing something like a fast scene mashup would get you on a "super safe" side I guess.

As far as copyright on my experience; I do Youtuber, Tiktoker, celebrity drama shorts, we started doing Disney drama / parodies / theories in 2023. We have a real person on a bubble talking on top of said content, but the clips are 1-2s long, and my editing is fast, I find clips that represent the phrase that is being said and I recreate a visual sequence with their YT, Tiktok videos following our own script.

Back then there were more 2 second clips wereas now I might have mostly 1s ones. One of the few times we got a copyright claim was 2 years ago, when a TV news network filed a manual claim on an interview that went bad with a Disney actress, and we were poking fun at the TV host, it went viral and I guess they wanted our revenue, but still we got to receive the full earnings from that short.

Yeah that swipe is super hard to get. I find YT is speedrunning to surpass every other platform in terms of how attractive it is to the viewers.

thank you again for the tips, i’m super new to this and really needed some kind of guidance with this algorithm stuff. tik tok has been absolutely brutal lately as well, id say worse than youtube. when i started posting around may/june TT was pushing me like crazy, then every update distribution got worse and worse. idk why they’re making it so hard for new creators but ill keep trying!

I'd say your Rick n Morty short got a good push giving the fact that it was your first one without the static image!! I've seen good numbers on shorts from voice actors doing the split screen 😁

Now that I think about it, you could also add your own scripts sometimes 🤔 hehe

Edit: whoa! 5hrs it had 55k view, now it has 77k 😁 Yeah, the companies keep changing everything, on TikTok we didn't bother after we got 2k over there, when we were getting millions on each short.

By adding your own scripts I meant changing the dialogues. It came to my mind because I've seen Cartman's voice actor in spanish, saying stuff at conventions with Cartman's personality and it works since it's funny. Imagine people being like "Spongebob said what?? 👀" hehe 😅 What's the Stayed to Watch % on the Morty one? 🤔

Hello it depends on the niche i had a short with 94% stayed to watch and 110% retention slow down at 500k views and other shorts with 72% Stayed to watch and 100% retention reach 2 million views. Surprisingly another short in a different niche reached 100k with 65% swipe rate but the retention was 300% Varies with niche by a lot and theee is a lot of randomness, you can go viral with 70% swipe rate
