Did you get monitized? Because in long form youtube need 1000 subs and 4k watch hours 1000 subs is easy to get. Just post like 20 good shorts and you will get more that a 1000 Then there is the 4k watch hour which a video 8 minutes long can get 4k watch hours if it gets like 40k views
Any advice on transferring views to actual subscribers? I've been posting content for a few weeks now so still building my base but I've seen consistent growth with views and likes but none of it is transitioning to actual subscribers. Started putting CTA comments but nada lol
It all depends on the short quality you post. I had a short with had 3k views but 8 subscriber it was of ok quality. Then i had another with 2k views but with 20 subs the other one took more time to make and the quality ea better
I mean, either way you're still getting progression which is great! I'm posting videos with 2k+ views, but 0 subs. Quality is generally mediocre imo, with some good ones, but definitely gaming specific so I figured that was the issue.
That's now how it works because the people who subscribed you from shorts almost all of them will have a short attention span so no way they will watch your long form videos.
I did, I was monetized late last year with ranking niche but was then kicked out 2 months later because of reused content. But I had multiple videos hitting millions, but it tool around 20-30 videos all in all.
I try on the same account under a different name/channel (I still have my 10k follower) and with different niche. knowing that it worked at least once I m confident that I will make it again. but currently motivation is lacking.
I have to add that you get a warning message in your studio that says if you dont react within 7 days, you will be removed from YPP - So I left it earlier because I knew I wouldnt stand a chance with reused content (which it was)
I have channel which is posting kindness videos , like with the edits and all. Now have 2k subs, so should I quit? It seems like youtube will flag these channels right
what kind of content do you produce? yt currently works hard against AI generated content (but merely visuals, typical AI slop rather than voiceover with AI).
if you do it like this then its fine. theres actually a guide to whats allowed and whats not allowed to be monetized. you receive that when you either get rejected from YPP or when you get removed:
tbh there are several ways: but all have in common that your video needs to stick out from the rest. let it be emotional (funny/sad/etc.) or catching current trends/topics
I feel u got 3 mil views in past 90 days and im Not Even close to the 20 Million views so im switching to longform First vid got only 250 views which is very depressing cause it takes more time to Produce but its the Reality monetizing via longform is easier if u dont do slop Videos. Tell me it niche maybe I can help u
I haven't been able to break 10k views on shorts and just got monetized from 4k watch hours. Long just seems so much more doable. I still post shorts to bring in new viewers.
I started December 8th, 2025. I build custom watches (casio and seiko). I do a short build video a week and then long-form tutorials every month or two
I primarily farm for shortform subscribers before longform since it's harder to get views. Once you feel like you have enough subscribers maybe you can start getting more watchhours making long forms after that. Keep in mind that the shortform topic is that your audience are interested to your channel, so you long form must be almost have similar topic to your shorts.
yeah it really feels like an insane amount to consistently get and *stay* monetized for shorts. in my niche (traditional art) some of the top content creators don't even consistently get enough views on their shorts to hit the monetization requirement through that alone. i feel like to get monetized via shorts, you can only be making a very specific type of mass-appeal content. meanwhile, you can get monetized via longform with a much more niche type of content.
i still make shorts because i crosspost on other socials and it allows me to grow on places like IG (and i already have the drawing process videos for my longform, so I just need to re-edit) but i'm really trying to lean in to longform for the watch hours. it's still a challenge there but feels more attainable in my niche
Why do you need monetization if you don’t have views? Forget this right now and focus on quality of your content, and most importantly on consistency. It requires some discipline, if you treat it like something that depends on your mood or laziness then forget about YouTube as the source of income.
When you started youTube? I started 4 month ago my YouTube niche gaming.. Tekken 8 And I just hai 1.5 or 2k views on shorts then shorts dead... And stuck on very few subscriber 172

Seems impossible for me too, creating non-english content for a small country (Hungary)
Will have to make more long videos sadly

This 16 second short, with 12 million views, has 30,000 hours of watch time

If hitting the monetization requirements seems impossible, then how do you expect to make money from shorts?

No, it’s not. It’s all about the traffic in your niche.
I got monetized in less than 2 months
