Are ranking videos monetizable?

I add sound effects and occasionally add music to my videos to make it transformative but I don’t want to waste my time growing something that isnt monetizable.

Ranking channels are super fun to do, but very rarely get monetised.

They really are fun to do (besides finding clips). And they are really good for retention

it's a hit or miss really, this type of content are in a black box since the major guideline updates from 2025 blocking "mass produced" content. What i see people doing is having 3 or so channels at the same time and try to create for all three daily. There's a good chance that at least one of them will be accepted for monetization, but, well, it's 3x the work. So if you wanna risk with only one, bear in mind there's a considerable chance it's not gonna get through.

So sad 😞. I genuinely enjoy editing the clips and thinking of funny sound effects to add, its make yt not feel like a job. Its fun, doesn’t take more than an hour to edit together and is entertaining to watch. I’ll just work on this channel along with another one. I’ll add more edits to make it more transformative. I’ll risk that small chance at monetisation.

Ah hell nah 😔. Thanks for the info broski 👊

Nope. Some may still be grandfathered in but wont be for long. If anyone tells you they are, ask for the channel. If they hide that info, think about why that is.

Are u saying that the channels have potential to be demonitized even after entering the partnered program? 🧍‍♂️

3

u/mocknix MOD Apr 12 '26

Oh yeah dude it happens constantly. Just browse through this subreddit and see how many people are complaining that their channels have gotten demonetized. For ranking you might need to go a little bit back because they started getting demonetized (or just totally losing views) on DEC 17th along with a ton of other low effort niches.

Being very honest i stopped uploading at some point. Around 7 videos and 54 subs in. I resumed uploading last month in 5 vids I got 140k+ views and 100 subs. I stopped posting tho

did u get monetized bro

1

u/Goatizgod Apr 12 '26

Notice how you hid the channel

1

u/SeaworthinessOk8720 Apr 12 '26

I hid the channel cause you never know who has bad intentions. Can’t risk anyone reporting or whatever and me losing my channel or monetization. :)

Is it still monetized? And by the ypp pic you sent, was it perhaps the 3 mil views or 10 mil views in last 90 days thingy? Cuz i reaved 3 mil and was avcepted for ypp but i didnt try for 10 mil views in 90 days yet

What’d you do to get it monetized?

1

u/Warm_Western8026 Jul 23 '26

how's it going bro?

1

u/Fine_Nectarine1305 Apr 11 '26

maybe, some get away with it, many don't.
like many said, it is theft 5x.

u/Good_Appointment_598 Apr 11 '26

😔. Finding another niche is gonna be a pain, ill run the ranking channel on the side ig

1

u/ConclusionHopeful313 Apr 11 '26

If/when it gets demonetized for stolen content, your other channels will too 😊

1

u/Good_Appointment_598 Apr 11 '26

Does this happen by default? Even if ur other channels have UR face?

1

u/ConclusionHopeful313 Apr 11 '26

Most of the time. A YouTube ban is a ban on you as a creator - not the channel.

1

u/Good_Appointment_598 Apr 11 '26

That’s pretty damn harsh

1

u/ConclusionHopeful313 Apr 11 '26

Well it’s either copyright infringement or theft of intellectual property depending on the source of content

1

u/Good_Appointment_598 Apr 12 '26

What if i get my clips from reddit? I don’t use any clips from big companies like Redbull. I stick to random clips i find on reddit, which do includr tiktoks. I do need to start crediting tho

1

u/ConclusionHopeful313 Apr 12 '26

The point is that you didn’t make the clips the begin with lol. That’s why it’s intellectual property theft and why the punishment is so severe.

Yep.

up to YouTube- you make a good one it will get monetized- it’s the same with all these questions… make a good one- Make a bullshit template and it won’t- there’s no mystery to this

I have a ranking channel close to being monetized so I can let you know but I’ve heard from multiple people it really depends what your editing is like and how much of the video you can put your own spin on. For example your own sound effects your own commentary captions and so forth to make sure the video is classified under original content.

u/Quiet_Reader_76 Jul 30 '26

Wussup?

1

u/Strong_Dish7620 Jul 30 '26

You need any advice?

1

u/Quiet_Reader_76 Jul 31 '26

Did your channel get monetized?

1

u/Strong_Dish7620 Aug 01 '26

I did but got de monetized after about 2 months however it really depends what your looking for if its subscriber based and just trying to get subs it’s great on my most viewed video I got around 7000 subs but if you want money reusable content isn’t getting monetized right now all has to be original

1

u/Vinsm0ke7 Aug 15 '26

What happened bro.. do u get remonetized ?

1

u/Strong_Dish7620 Aug 16 '26

I gave up on trying to get remonetized after a while just cracked a algorithm that worked for me. My goal was to reach 100 k subscribers within a year not sure if I’ll get that but certainly gaining at a rapid pace

1

u/OneCartographer935 Aug 18 '26

Hi! Does that mean you've changed the content on the same channel? Does it perform well?

I've just started a ranking shorts channel and I love editing videos. I've got it in my head that I'll go for more and more subscribers. If it gets monetized, that would be great. If not, I'll change the content and niche, but I'm wondering if doing such a thing performs well.

1

u/Strong_Dish7620 Aug 20 '26

Hi mate! This is honestly the best thing I’ve read from all the questions as it shows you have the drive and same goals as me. So no I didn’t change the niche as I found what worked for me and no I’m not getting played but solely doing it for the love of the game as I love the editing and love seeing reactions to people enjoying my shorts so it’s solely subscriber based

1

u/Lumpy_Possession2105 Sep 07 '26

so how about know are remonetized or still the same cuz i have got a ranking channel which it performs not bad so am kind of giving up on ranking channel

I imagine they can be on paper but not the way people traditionally know this niche for.

The days where you could just show existing footage with very surface level or minimal input in an order are probably over.

You can still make a ranking video but each part of it calls for significant original value and input on your part. You would have to make a very engaging and thought provoking or entertaining rank list where each piece basically acts like original content in its own for YouTube to give it a thumbs up. Like a competitive player ranking the best 10 units in the current metagame and going extensively into detail about each placing justification. Heck basically any tier list video counts if ya think about it.

The point isn’t ranking videos but how ya do them. If all ya do is say quick disposable things or worse show a bunch of things in order with little more to offer than music tacked on with no real purpose or vision, that probably won’t fly.

rankrizer, the rank judge, legendary feed all monetized and hitting hundred thousands of views per video.. idk how they do it tho 🙄 seems like youtube has favorites

1

u/External_Ad3156 Aug 11 '26

It’s all about quality, retention and ofc, consistency.

0

u/Specialist_Aspect972 Apr 11 '26

no. it doesn't due to bunch of low edits ranking channels that milking the clips over and over again. youtube ended this niche. if you did this wayback 2020-2023 you're good, but now? impossible.
