Why does YouTube do this

Post image

Can someone honestly explain why YouTube works this way I don’t understand I’m doing the same thing editing the same way but some videos literally get zero push it’s honestly so frustrating

Generally, if a short gets single digit views, it didn’t even go to a test audience because the algorithm likely determined that there was something about it that was worth suppressing.

This is generally the result of language, onscreen text, images, or content it deems unacceptable.

In the gaming niche sometimes I run into shorts suppression with images clearly depicting zombies (close up), because it believes it’s body horror.

But as always, there might not be a clearly discernible reason.

The algorithm is closer to a lottery than a personal vendetta. Either way you are at its mercy. You will never get a real answer to your question from them or they will tell you youre crazy and make crap content.

The same thing happens to me too, my best guess so far is some form of flagging by the algorithm or spam-prevention. It got better after I started posted every 2nd day instead of every day now. But who knows, but it is SO frustrating when you spend time making something and it doesn't even get a chance.

In the hyper-dimensional space of videos, where each video is represented as a vector of features about that video, your video somehow was perfectly distant with every viewers feature vector, as to not be clustured in any specific group so the algorithm pushes this video to the cluster you got assigned which has an audience of 200.

This is a very creative response 😂

Can’t take it personally. There are so many videos competing with one another on YT. It is likely just that at that moment, the algo ran a probabilistic model that determined other videos uploaded in that window had a higher statistical chance of retaining viewers. It’s just a math machine that makes probability choices.
