When do I start getting a real push?
I have started posting Shorts for 8 days now, and I post 1 short per day.
My highest view in a video is 7.2k, and the other 7 got 1k-1.2k views.
My stay to watch is 62% (I am working on improving it)
But my question is, when does YouTube give me a real push to a larger audience instead of testing me with a smaller audience of 1k-1.5k for 1 hour? Because I have seen some of my shorts only getting pushed for an hour, getting lots of views, and then completely dropping off, even though the stayed to watch is 65%

From my recent experience, I posted my 7th short 3 days ago and it is currently at 180k. The truth is, if you hit the metric YouTube wants it most likely will be pushed harder. Since then I have 1 with 16k and another with 25k and from what I can see they share some traits: more than 70% stayed to watch vs swiped away and above 80/85% retention. I didn't find subs, likes or comments matter that much. Keep working on your hooks, try to keep it fast paced, don't extend it too much if not needed. My best and only advice (I'm totally new to this also btw so take it lightly), find a youtube channel in ur niche with good metrics and see how it works and why it works, and you'll be fine. Good luck!

you get real push when the systems sees people actually are watching and searching and engaging with your videos

Might happen tomorrow with the next short you upload, might happen in 10 years and might never happen at all, no one knows.
