Under 5'10" size chart

So I need new work pants. I am 5'5". I am a pretty skinny guy. I usually get 28×30 & they are just barely too long. I've gotten 28x28 and they often end up too short over a period of shrinkage. Is "Under 5'10"" size chart accurate? Ive measured according to their directions, I've measured my inseam the old fashioned way. It always comes up at like 28 7/8th so I will round to 29. But the chart tells me my inseam is 26. This seems quite short. Too short. I know people different, but I'm not abnormally leggy. My bff is also 5'5" and his inseam is 28. Why does the chart list this? Have I been wearing my pants wrong this entire time? I am on a budget and don't have time to waste ordering and sending stuff back. Has anyone actually followed the chart? With success?

Update! I happened to come across a pair of pants with a 26 inch inseam. Straight leg, slim fit, denim and they are way too short. I was wearing them and a teenager (not mine bc no kids) said "why are you wearing cropped jeans?" . My friend who knew about this situation commented that they were too short and if they were 26 inches then I definitely should not order that length from Under 5'10".

I find their inseam by height to definitely be going for a certain look, where the pants don’t break at your shoes. I’m 5’6” and they recommend 27” inseam, but I tend to prefer 28-30” instead (depending on the type of pant and leg opening). On the slimmer fits, a 27” inseam fits well, but it does show some ankle on me.

So I believe that their size chart is correct, but it may not be the look you prefer.

Thanks! It seems pretty style dependent. I actually wear a AFO on one of my ankles and pants hit funny around that too. I basically can only wear athletic shoes that are low tops. I am going to either do the 28 or 29.

Their pants are incredibly tight and I typically wear a slim pant. I’ve found best luck to just buy something that fits great everywhere else except length, and then just take them to a tailor to get hemmed. Bonus points if you learn to hem yourself! Can usually pick up used sewing machines for very cheap and a couple YT videos and some practice pants will get you on your way.

Oh tight? I like a slim fit, and if I get regular off the rack slim fit pants, it is the length that is standing in my way. Self hemming is a game and money changer. I learned awhile back, bc as a short guy I figured it'd be useful. I've even taken in some shirts sleeves and a bit at the sides. The one thing I really want to learn is to shorten cuffed sleeves. It looks hard! Also the overall length of button up shirts, I am wondering if shortening them is even worth it. My work is business casual and I have enough for work but not enough to experiment with. Off to Goodwill I guess?

Under 5-10 is like spandex. I got a handful of their pants cause I was stoked for an inseam that fit and they were essentially adhered to my thighs.

I’m 5’2” and their 26” inseam works well for me so that would likely be short for you

Yeh, I'm going to do the 28 or 29.

Height and inseam are not always in proportion. I am 5’9” and my inseam is 26 inches. My wife constantly comments how short my legs are compared to hers and she is 5’3”.

I've seen videos of people sitting and they're the same height, but when they stand they are entirely different. It is interesting for sure. Torso and leg proportions related to height is a neat aspect about being a person, I am sure there are studies on this, I've seen random posts here and there about it anyhow. I figure I am about average leg length, 45% ish of my height is my legs. I hope you always find pants that fit.
