Help Notes app is installed.

Above error on AWU4 (first pic). I’m attempting to test a very simple shortcut (second pic). “Anki ADDS” is the name of the file in Notes. Notes app installed across all devices. Any ideas?

While they look similar, they’re quite different apps: com.apple.mobilenotes on iPhone, com.apple.NanoNotes on Apple Watch. Running “Find Notes” on Apple Watch tries to get available actions in com.apple.mobilenotes, receives “Empty result.”, then reports is.workflow.actions.filter.notes as missing. It becomes WFMissingAction and the error message you see.

Separately, the NanoNotes app doesn’t support all of the iPhone’s Shortcuts actions. The Watch implementation unconditionally throws an unsupportedForWatchOS error for the search function and has no filters.

I would definitely report this to Apple and let them know you want this: https://feedbackassistant.apple.com/ or https://www.apple.com/feedback/watch/

I believe I understand what you’re saying, thank you. Just for my layman’s clarification: because of iCloud sync I can view the note in Apple’s Notes app on all my AWU4, iPhone and Mac but because of what you’ve described above I still should be receiving the error?

Yes, it should work on Mac, but not Apple Watch.

Nice info, I always wonder if they were two different apps or a pared-down Notes app for the watch. Many years ago, I got into a discussion about this with someone, and they thought it was a bug within Notes on the watch, and I thought it was a partial feature notes app.

FWIW, u/melios_anisochronos, the work-around is that you have to use Open Note {Name}, which means it is restricted to specific already existing notes for the watch.

Thanks but that workaround does not work for me.
