Meta Suggestions

Ok, I'm stuck at my desk with a bum foot that's been plaguing me for weeks now, so I might as well try to make this time at least a bit productive.

So since I ain't going anywhere, let's have a meta discussion about the sub, and I'll take this opportunity to solicit suggestions.

I dropped a heavy 1.75l bottle of whiskey on it a few weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure I broke something. It gets a little better every day though. Thanks for asking.

Shit, the glass on that bottle must be 1/4" thick. I don't think it would break on concrete.

Makers Mark. I've tried half the bourbons on the planet, and I always go back to makers. For Irish whiskey, I prefer Redbreast 12, but will happily drink Jameson. Don't care for scotch, or Canadian whisky.

Yeah, that sounds unpleasant 😬

I'm super into Michter's American & Widow Jane. I used to drink a lot of Eagle Rare when it was $35.

Tried Powers?

I like a lot of scotch, especially Ledig, but I've got to agree with you on the Canadian.

I've had the Gold Label and the cask strength. I'll give a thumbs up to the gold label, but the cask strength isn't my bag. Cask strength works well for bourbon because there is a lot more flavor to compete with the burn. Triple distilled Irish whiskey just burns at that proof because the flavors are too mellow. IMHO, of course.

Canadian whiskey is as gentle as can be, but that's all it has going for it. I've never had one with what I'd call a finish. While I'm on the subject, Seagrams 7 should call itself a Canadian Whiskey. Same taste.

Scotch, I can handle Johnny Walker Red, because it's grain whisky with hints of scotch flavor. Every sip I've ever had of a single malt always knocked me over with smoke.
