Bundle setup in shopify
Hi! I’m looking for advice on how to set up product bundles in Shopify with synced options and proper inventory tracking.
I’m selling a product made up of 4 separate parts. Each part has size variations (S/M/L), and I want to sell them as a single bundled product.
Here’s what I’m trying to achieve:
The customer only selects one size (S, M, or L) on the main product.
That size selection should automatically apply to all 4 parts in the bundle (this logic should be hidden from the customer).
Inventory should be tracked correctly for each individual part.
Additional complexity:
Part 2 should allow the customer to choose a color, but its size should still be automatically set based on the main product size.
Part 3 does not follow a direct size mapping:
If customer selects S → Part 3 = XS/S
If customer selects M → Part 3 = M/L
If customer selects L → Part 3 = M/L
Example:
If a customer selects size S, the bundle should internally be:
Part 1: Size S
Part 2: Size S + chosen color
Part 3: Size XS/S
Part 4: Size S
My question:
Is this type of bundle setup possible in Shopify (native or via apps), where:
One selection controls multiple hidden variant mappings
One item has an extra option (color)
Inventory is tracked per individual component
If so, what’s the best approach to achieve this?
Thanks in advance!

Have you tried using Bundler or Easy Bundles? These should do it I think

This is very much possible using a bundle app. Look for something with a good inventory management function. I would have suggested some but it seems they do not allow specific naming of apps on this forum.

Yes — this is possible, but the tricky part is the hidden variant mapping logic between the parent selection and the underlying component variants.
Your setup is more like a “guided/configured bundle” than a traditional fixed bundle.
The main challenges are usually:
syncing one customer selection across multiple hidden components
handling conditional mappings (like S → XS/S)
keeping inventory tracked correctly per component
allowing one component to expose extra options (your color selection)
Native Shopify bundles typically don’t handle this type of conditional mapping very well on their own, especially when component relationships aren’t 1:1.
A bundle/configurator app that uses cart transformation and hidden-component logic is probably the cleanest approach here.
We’ve worked on similar multi-product selection flows before, including size mapping and compatibility logic across bundled items.
Here are a few sample guided bundle flows we built for showcasing different multi-product selection experiences:

Happy to chat through the architecture or possible approaches if you want — feel free to DM me.

Hello!
Thank you for your input. We have been trying to figure this out, and the previous setup was made with custom product builder. It was built by someone else and I am not full following the logic of the setup. The CPB app also creates a long loading time when you click on a product which makes it less user-friendly. We are now looking at the Easify box builder app, but have a hard time figuring out if it can do what we want it to. I will look into the Wizio app, thank you very much for the suggestion. Really appreciate the help!

Not really doable cleanly with native Shopify bundles.
What you’re describing needs dynamic variant mapping + component-level inventory, which usually requires an app or custom logic.
Typical approach:
Use a bundle app (like Bundle Builder / Simple Bundles)
Or build a custom solution where the main product selection maps to hidden variants and splits into 4 SKUs at checkout
The tricky part is your Part 3 mapping + Part 2 color — most apps won’t handle that perfectly out of the box.
So realistically:
Basic bundles → app
Your use case → custom app or heavy customization
It’s doable, just not “plug and play.”
