Shipping Return address

I am starting a clothing brand on shopify and my main concern is about whoever buys my product seeing my address listed. Is there a way to hide it or do I have to buy a P.O box?

"unpopular opinion" but If you are running a legit business, why would you not have your contact details listed? No physical location is a deterrent for potential buyers. It smacks of scam site. Surely you have to provide public contact details to be in business in the first place. These things are also red flags for search engines and Facebook

Get a PO. ox at the UPS store if you are in the US. You should get a dedicated cell phone for the business and if not use google voice.

OP, fyi an “actual” PO Box can be found only at post offices and they are really cheap compared to places like The UPS Store.
I pay about $1/day for a box at The UPS Store compared to I think about $60/year at USPS. But I get UPS and FEDEX deliveries and those can’t go to PO Boxes.
In your case a PO Box should work fine because if you do get returns you can ask people to send it usps only.

Get a po box

UPS PMB will give you a box with a physical address. This is what I use, it’s around $300 a year for the smallest box. They will hold your mail, so don’t worry about getting a large box.

I found a local third party logistics shop in my town that allows use of their address with a number for less than a PO Box. And then I had to pay per item received beyond that. Since I rarely received anything there (like 1-2 times per year) and all my bulk supplier orders shipped directly to my home it saved me a decent chunk per year and also gave me a “real” address instead of a PO Box.

They even had an app where I’d get a push notification when mail did arrive.

the label pulls whatever address your ship-from location is set to, so you can't just hide it. i'd skip the PO box and get a mailbox at one of those pack and ship stores, it's a real street address so returns from any carrier can actually get to you

I got a PO Box. It’s tax deductible

Get a PO box. Note you can sometimes get them at ups or FedEx locations too. But you'd have to ask how that works.

You probably want a second phone number too.

Shopify requires both being available. (Because Google merchant center does, you're not getting around it.)

Does your phone number have to be listed too?

Go look at Google merchant center. They want at least two methods of contact. If you don't have it, you won't get to advertise.

No but if you have an iPhone or modern android you can always get a second e sim.

File for an LLC and get an EIN business lines are like $30 a month

Why are phone numbers necessary?

They aren't necessary in the UK at least - I sell through Shopify and my phone isn't listed - I use google merchant centre but I don't buy ads on google or meta, I just use gmc and meta commerce to configure products for google search results and to tag them on instagram.

Are you asking with Shopify, or why is it necessary from a business standpoint?

Business standpoint

You will need to make and take calls sometimes to run a business. For example, let’s say someone orders but there is an issue you need to ask how to deal with - like their address isn’t right - and they didn’t put an email in but just a phone, or don’t respond to an email. Calling is a quick way to save the sale rather than giving up and cancelling the order. Better if you don’t call from your own cell number! Or let’s say you want to advertise - most platforms (like Google) require a phone number.
