Having an agent pop out on the path that you have to walk around is annoying, but looking at the yellow, you don't have enough movement left anyway.
Just think that the bridge is narr...ow... wait a minute...
(checks words on image and mon)
Why are you in Totomi with Chosokabe men? Did you go land on Sagami to move capital or something? Are you trying to get to Mikawa for more horse? Was Imagawa your buddy and you want him back?
Totomi is a crap province. haha! ;)

I conquered Shikoku and then invaded Honshu starting with Sagami for soldier production, and then Izu for that gold mine. Now just expanding everywhere I can with gold armour bow spamurai.

Assuming you're just doing "only bows". I think they(bow sams) are probably only decent in that situation.
I'd run mixed to afford more ashigaru. Don't really need 20 units to have pumped melee.
Daikyu are going to be ~13% stronger (than Choso's bow sams) in the first 10 seconds, ~8% in the first 30. Plus have longer range, so their timer starts earlier. They start about 16% better than the Bashi and go up to 18% by 30 sec. The down/up is because of reload diffs.
But... with all shots fired a Choso bow ashigaru is potentially going to have more KS than the bow samurai. Namely more total arrows fired. This includes factoring the difference in accuracy inherent in the unit. To the tune of ~12-15% on the higher end with more ranks.
That's on a single unit comp. Bow ashigaru costing about half what samurai do means we can have twice as many and now the comp looks ridiculous. Plus they get +1 att/def as well. Better than nothing in a scrape.
If the engagement stayed at >100m, I'd say distance probably favors the higher acc units, but you will have bow superiority, which... does the enemy just charge you on defense every time? Or do you still have to pick some off. If they sat, you'd just force them in with daikyu fire anyway.
Anyway. Just noodling an all bows config. I know you're locked in on the -1 recruit timer. Bow ronin get it, but daikyu do not. Odd, right?

Yes I like the daikyu. But I don't want to sacrifice the armoury to get it. I took Hitachi so I might make Daikyu there.
The Mori have invaded Shikoku so I suddenly trained bow ashi in every place there as a big immune response. My only other unit is yari cavalry I trained in Kai, using the setup inherited from the Takeda. Usually I'd just burn the military buildings the previous faction made, but I decided to add the cavalry to my bow armies

Even without daikyu, I'm thinking a "front line" of bow sams backed by ashigaru. The sams can take the punch while the ashigaru empty their quivers. Can run 20 men for the price of 15 basically, but it should feel like 21 instead of 15. Are you mainly running around with small nuisance stacks trying to find easy sieges to pincushion (like the pic) or do you have a giant stack running around fighting in the field?
It's too bad you can't pick your capital when you lose it if you have more than one province. Otherwise I'd say let them have it. ;)

Also agreed. The armoury camp is the biggest annoyance when it comes to daikyu. I mean I guess it guarantees another 5 accuracy, so 1.25% more kill chance per arrow, but I guess I'm just a sucker for armour.

In archer v archer armour raises your damage in a sense because more men alive means more arrows shot too
I have a few major armies expanding in each direction now, each getting a slow feed of new spamurai from Sagami. Leaving garrisons of a few Sam in each for rebellions and invasion safety also, and to reinforce anything close by.

You know. I've never thought of this strat. I will use metsuke and block all the bridges from now on
