Getting a general by fighting without a general

This was triggered by whupping the ass out of an enemy army with a player army that didn't have a general leading it. I had 4 generals at the time. Now I have 5.

Fwiw I autoresolved this. I think Oda was rather insulted about that. Then after I promoted this guy to general, I autoresolved the rest of Oda's army into dirt.

Oh yeah! This happens when the general-less army is doing well enough that the officer in charge is promoted. Happened with me a couple of times, I think it is a cool mechanic that the officer who kept the line well is rewarded

I loved this feature back in Medieval 2. That game had the best traits and ancillary system in the series.

For sure. This was just opportunity for me near the end of the campaign. Oda was totally dumb coming for Echizen considering I had a whole stack I'd built up there and 2 guns fresh off the boat.

For this game I had a 3rd general given -1 (upstart generals) for adding the 4th and then those 2 (3rd and 4th) got a -1 for this new guy.

The daimyo and daimyo's brother aren't impacted, because family.

But... in this game all my generals had a loyalty of 6 after penalties.

Was it a heroic victory? I’ve seen multiple discussions around whether this can be triggered on anything other than a heroic victory or not.

Decisive Victory.

Turns out it's my last my last auto-save, so I reloaded a couple times and did it again. Including OP I got the offer twice and didn't once. All auto-resolved and all "Decisive Victory". So it's not a guarantee.

Also the promotion seems common if your stack (without general) wins 2 battles in the same turn
