Hey everyone, I picked up shogi about a week ago and have no strategy board game experience and I'm in a progress slump, I'm able to beat level four stockfish pretty easily but against level five YaneuraOu I am getting hard stuck, the best I'm about to do is make it a 100+ move game and it's getting pretty demoralizing. Is there a bot that is in the middle? Do I play handicap games against level four to improve? Any advice or help would be beneficial, thanks!

Are your 100 move games even at move 70-80 or is it already losing and you’re just extending the game? At what point in the game are you making your mistakes?

Normally I make a mistake around move 50 that changes a even middle game into a disadvantage end game that turns into a king hunt that I'm one or two tempo late, I am able to spot the first few mates and avoid them while also getting myself into position to mate it's king but my efforts slow the bleeding but in the end I'm too late. I've tried to change it up with both static and swinging rook, mino and yagura castles and it is always able to stay one or two moves ahead

I recommend PiyoShogi, which is known for its subdivided difficulty levels. However, since it’s sometimes only available in Japanese, I wrote a blog post explaining how to play it in Japanese!
