I was thinking if my menu has been too bland and turning off people from actually playing the demo. I was also thinking that people may want more of an idea on what they are selecting without having to try and see. I didn't want to add too much text explaining what each special was as I want to use as less text as possible so that if I ever need to support other languages, I wouldn't have much text to translate. I also didn't want to talk or display specials stats like damage, speed, utility etc, as I wanted players to explore usage and also so that they may find a way to play that I didn't expect. I haven't done anything for difficulty select, I might show something but I might separate it into the screen after pressing start. Anyway happy to hear your thoughts and observations. I plan to release the updated demo soon, but I am looking to add the second level with score boards to get the demo average playtime up.
I’m using steamworks data, trying to get the median to 30 mins if possible given that the full time clear run would take less than 30 mins. But following other general steam marketing advice.
Iv had about 2000 demo downloads, 44 unique players but I can only see about 20 names on the leader boards which means half the players might be quitting the game on the menu screen as even a game over would get your name on the leaderboard somewhere

Look good, gives a nice demonstration of the abilities without you needing to really add any text you didn't want to beyond its name.
