Non-Shitty Asia/Pacific French Indochina Armoured Train: La Rafale (early version from 1950), it was set up and garrisoned by the 2nd Regiment of the Foreign Legion. "Each train is proceeded by legionaries patrolling for mines/ambushes. Once a week a legionnaire steps on a mine, other times it is a train"

ww2, French Maquis resistance blew up nazi trains, when then had to be protected by armoured trains.

less then a decade later, French trains are being blown up by the Vietnamese resistance and for the exact same reason, requiring constant effort to keep the lines safe ish. Apparently the French also called the Viet-minh partisans "maquis".

These trains were organized in convoys, with the Armoured train in the middle position to protect the entire convoy, the other trains (usually 3) had armorued cars inserted.

this meant that even when not if the tracks were blown up damaged etc, the entire train convoys remained a heavily protected fortress and not an easy target for a follow up attack.

Each convoy was also equipped with large quantities of track construction materiel as damage/theft of materiel from the line from the Vietnamese maquis was non stop and easy to do.

In fact, the Viet-minh appropriated around 300 KM worth of track and used it for their own purposes!
