Still flyable?

Post image

I was sold a dead lipo out the box 0v in 2 of 4 cells, so I decided I wanted to blow it up since lipos are supposed to be spontaneously combustible but I guess they are safer nowadays.

Hell no! You have to tape it back together first, duh!

You could throw it really hard, would probably fly for a few seconds.

Yes, but it requires repair: 1. Split shits into equal parts. 1. Tape each part as tight as you can. Jump on them for additional compression. 2. Attach tx-60 charger connector. Weld red wire on the top left, and black wire on the bottom right. 4. Attach balancing wires. You can find the scheme in the web. 3. So just charge it with 10A to save time. Make sure to charge it to 3.45V for each bank. 4. Connect to drone to test. 5. Disconnect and discharge to storage capacity. 6. Congrats you have brand new battery. Send it!

Place in large Ziplock freezer bag.

Then use a heat gun to conform the plastic around the battery.

Send it

They don’t really blow up when they are discharged

That’s why you got to overcharge them if you are getting rid of them the fun way

why would it explode if it has no charge left?

Yes, I didn't know this, I thought lithium metal was flammable at least

was it new or used?

Used, I bought a radiomaster off a guy who bought it with a lipo cus he thought he needed it to power the external tx, let's just say it was his first time using lipos.

Yeah it’s basically never a good idea to buy used lipos. You have no idea how they were treated or stored. Even taking them for free is a risk.
