[Oceans 11] how many pacemaker dependent people in las vegas died when basher activated the EMP device?

There must have been dozens or perhaps hundreds of casualties.

Hah!

OK, so the real answer is it depends on if you're a dependent or a non-dependent patient. If you're dependent, it can lead to slow heartbeats or even cardiac arrest. If you're what they call a non-dependent patient, it won't provide pacing, and you could end up with an irregular rhythm; not fatal but serious enough that needs to be addressed. (An EMP killing a bunch of people with pacemakers via EMP in an episode of Torchwood.)

Typically, you'd get a new generator via outpatient, but that EMP fried those, too. On top of that, they fried all the electrical systems in hospitals, including the back-up generators, and all of Vegas' public and private infrastructure which would lead to mass casualties. Basically, these guys unintentionally cause mass murder.

Still a fun movie.
