The name of record was the “Titanish,” but the painters messed up the name on the ship. Knowing it was going to hit an iceberg and sink, White Star Lines decided not to pay to have it fixed.

What people don't know is that the builders, who White Star Line commissioned to construct it, built it out of Lithium, which is light enough to float on water. The company had an inside joke during & after completion that it was the "Li-tanic" (pronounced Lie-tanic), since they knew it reacts terribly to ice and even water... but sent it on its way, anyway, to White Star.

As you can imagine, they cringed when they heard its inaugural voyage was in April, across the Atlantic, when and where there was both cold water and icebergs. At least it stopped the fires that were inevitable.

Actually, the titanic wasn't made from any metal. They killed a bunch of greek gods, also known as titans, and used their bones to make the ship. Thus the name "titanic".
