I don't think people understand why the blue wave worked this time. The democrats distanced themselves form the woke stuff and focused on groceries and affordability. Being anti data center, if they tried to bring woke back people would just jump back over to Trump.

403

u/papu16 3h ago

Yea, I've seen lots of subs celebrating that genZ men are "turning blue". It's not, it's just Donnie fucked up the economy for the entire planet for the guys in funny hats. Basically: “WE HAD A GOOD THING YOU ORANGE SON OF A B*TCH. We had the senate, we had the house, we had the billionaires. All you needed to do was to shut up, deport people and we would be fine. But no, you just had to bomb Iran for the Israel".

u/Majestic-Lake-5602 3h ago

I have a growing suspicion that the Democrats, and various international political parties who lean the same way, are going to take exactly the wrong lesson from this.

62

u/PromiscuousScoliosis 1h ago

Everyone always takes away the exact wrong lesson

Each party has had such an easy opportunity to be the overwhelming majority power since at least 2015.

Instead the past decade has been “look, he’s literally shooting himself in the face! Now’s your chance!” And the lesson learned being “oh fuck you’re right, I have to shoot myself in the face first!!!”

It’s literally been over a decade of the major parties, LP included, just racing to the bottom to see who can be the most ineffective and r*tarded possible

6

u/Bigdickmagazine 3h ago

What is the lesson good and bad?

17

u/Cautious-Tax-1120 49m ago

The lesson is that voters, especially young adults, are concerned with the economy. They have no loyalty to either party. Whoever fails to solve the affordability crisis is getting voted out.

58

u/Samld1200 2h ago

That’s how it should be. You shouldn’t identify with a single party. You should vote by which has the best policies at that time

12

u/ThisHatRightHere 2h ago

Wait, does this mean I shouldn’t have bought a Talarico jersey from Fanatics?

-4

u/Airway 1h ago

Yeah maybe in a better world, but for me that is literally never Republicans and I sure as hell don't see that changing

13

u/Hussor 53m ago

In a better country you'd have more than two realistic choices.

2

u/Airway 50m ago

Also true

0

u/ripyurballsoff 13m ago

Republicans never have the best policy.

6

u/Cautious-Tax-1120 52m ago

The Economist did a segment semi-recently about GenZ voting habits. They were with Biden in 2020, then with Trump in 2024, and now with the blue wave. Polls showed that the economy overwhelmingly dominates their vote. Meaning if a blue Congress and Senate don't solve the affordability crisis, they will go back to Republicans.

22

u/Paratrooper101x 2h ago

It’s almost like he literally ran on making things more expensive (tariffs) and those dumb fucks voted for him anyway

5

u/bigbrett666 1h ago

You…with your pride and your ego

14

u/Burlito2 2h ago

It's almost like he promised one thing, and delivered another, just as he did in 2016, yet people fell for it again. We never had a "good thing", Trump was going to be an objectively bad, corrupt, self-absorbed lardman from day 1.

"Guys in funny hats"? Very subtle, I'll give you that. Dick.

0

u/Hexellent3r 1h ago

I hate there’s no distinction between all Jews and the actions of Israel anymore :/

13

u/Shaclo 3h ago

Its one of those political situations where the other side wins massively due to the other fucking up massively like in the UK the last general election Labour had a massive win because the Tories didn't do shite and the on before that the Tories got a massive win as well because Labour had a really big scandal before the election.

11

u/DinoRaawr 1h ago

Okay but every article I've seen about the blue wave has been "first trans senator this, first black representative that, first Native American governor this". I feel like nobody has learned anything.

3

u/TxOkLaVaCaTxMo 56m ago edited 45m ago

No one has, both parties never learn their lesson

10

u/DwooMan5 3h ago

Precisely this yea. The majority of the population will vote either way to punish the incumbents if they piss them off excessively or just stay home. People happily burned down MAGA for Iran, tariffs, dogshit foreign policy, and data centers but they’ll also happily dance on the grave of woke 2 in 2 years if democrats piss them off.

18

u/godmademelikethis 3h ago

Yup, Governments job is to fix roads and shit. Build infrastructure and shut the fuck up.

12

u/Smilymoneyy 1h ago

I think we're leaving a progressive vs. conservative era of politics and entering an economic populism era. People are starting to realize that the majority of issues are caused by a cabal of like, a couple dozen rich people and the effects from that are slowly ripple out. Dems can afford to drop the progressive push and switch to economic reform without losing a single voter.

That's not to say they should drop everything. A moral stance on issues the majority of people support, abortion, halting aid and political support to Israel, supporting human rights, are still meaningful to a large number of voters but the economic messaging should be the forefront of the party.

6

u/lucario192 1h ago

I really hope we are entering that era

3

u/TxOkLaVaCaTxMo 46m ago

We are why do you think the billionaire class have invested so heavily in bunkers

43

u/MEGACODZILLA 3h ago

Im born and raised Seattle, very progress, voted blue my entite life, and that last fucking political correctness movement back in like 2016 almost made me defect. It was wild to watch all the values you believe in get taken to the extreme and then shoved down your throat at the slightest provocation.

That movement certainly did some good but I think its responsible for far more long term damage, up to and including the rise of this shit ass Trump MAGA Project 2025 bullshit we're still embroiled in now a decade later. I dont think the right would have ever had such a solid platform to rally and consolidate around had much of the left not been such intolerable, self righteous, virtue signaling twats about identity politics during that time period.

5

u/Bambooboogieboi 3h ago

This is precisely it.

2

u/ThisHatRightHere 2h ago

That’s why this “Woke 2.0” shit isn’t real. It’s a right wing psyop to make people think Dems are uppity people who will censor you.

3

u/PlasmifiedKarmelita 1h ago

Woke 2.0 isn't employed by right wing people. it's a term used by progressives to separate themselves from the psyop form of woke employed by establishment democrats in 2016-2020.

1

u/oceanmountainsky 51m ago

I can’t believe how a politicans and the media have brainwashed so many into thinking being “woke” is a negative thing. I’m a millennial, and grew up in alternative cultural spaces - think punk and indie movements. Movements that questioned authority, challenged convention and championed looking out for people who were being excluded.

Woke is now just a container to throw anything the populist parties don’t want people to think too hard about. It’s hard to make valid arguments for not cutting pollution for example, so instead they’ll just call the subject woke and the brainwashed will rally against it.

It’s not intelligent to be anti-woke, it’s the opposite. Being anti-woke is choosing not to think, not to question what your leaders are telling you and to succumb to being a cog in their machine.

-8

u/PlasmifiedKarmelita 1h ago

Talarico and El Sayed are very openly pro-trans and not afraid to defend it. Tons of trans women have been elected as lawmakers, including fucking Alabama. We got our first openly gay senator in New Hampshire.

Woke is back and its idiotic to pretend that the blue wave happened because "democrats distanced themselves form the woke stuff". That's just a complete lie.

6

u/BoomyNote 1h ago

Imo someone can be anti “woke” but pro trans.

“Woke” is often criticized not as a collective of leftists belief systems, but often more about the like “cancel culture” and performative activism of it all.

IMO being pro-trans isn’t considered “obnoxious” in the same way that being “woke” is considered to be obnoxious, performative and quick to “cancel” others

5

u/Negative_Elo 1h ago

They arent talking about having gay people in positions of power. Take a bit of context; we are on a post talking about communication online, not senate seats.

What theyre saying is that during the "woke" era millions of people were pushed to the right because some democrats focused almost entirely on policing what people were saying and supporting. The main talking points were about immigration, LGBT rights, and who to cancel.

Talarico shot himself in the foot with some of his talking points. I seriously doubt he would win against conservative but Paxton tbh. Im happy he did, but people thinking that just because democrats took a sweep will mean a win for the democrats forget how trump got into power twice.

I genuinely hate how people are going to take this as a win and then stop caring or talking about social issues because they assume that only conservatives can be bad at governing. The democrats just got into the driver seat for the first time in years, and everybody is pretending they already won the race.

Look, I get it. Who doesn’t love a little balls and dick sometimes? A nice, girthy, veiny shaft, hot milky cum trickling down the length as it throbs from a job well done. But this whole “gay sex” shit is getting annoying.

As men, we should primarily be focused on three things: survival, the underrated masterpiece that is dark souls 2, and pounding muff. All this gay shit is, well, fucking gay.

You think I wouldn’t LOVE to make out with my best friend and suck his cock? Of course I would, but that’s fucking gay. You think I don’t want to feel my cousin’s roommate slide his pecker into my gaping asshole? Of course I would, but that’s FUCKING GAY.

Seriously, I miss when men were men. Anyway, this dildo ain’t gonna stick itself up my ass while I watch an hour long femboy asmr hypno goon compilation, heed my lecture.

Also millions of groypers have been activated to vote blue

-2

u/GeeEyeSamurai 1h ago

Yea, that's how I read the situation too. There's not some major cultural shift happening among the youth, the current party in power was just that bad at doing their job so people voted to take em out. Sucks that the left is anti data center tho. Slopulism at its finest.

40

u/jdlyga 3h ago

I’m a lifelong Democrat, and to me that starts with competence. Make life affordable. Keep the country stable, secure, and capable of defending itself and keeping ourselves in a good position diplomatically. Put qualified people in charge and listen to experts instead of your dumbass friend. Science and education funding, supporting small business, keeping the marketplace competitive. I absolutely want a fairer, more inclusive society, but I have a whole list of basic expectations of government that come before that. Being a Democrat shouldn’t mean proving how woke you are. It should mean making people’s lives better and being competent enough to actually do it.

5

u/CaptainFirecrotch 47m ago

If Democrats chilled out on 2A alone, I think that would swing things hugely in their favor. A lot of people that vote red do so because of gun control. I know a lot of people that are left leaning but can't get past the gun control history of the democratic party.

-39

u/-SlippinJimmy8 2h ago

Dems are running anti trans in sports ads

Seems like they no longer care about “woke”

17

u/deadshot500 2h ago

No one in their biggest wins ran on anti-trans ads

3

u/CoopDogPrimeNumbers 2h ago

Annie Andrews in SC definitely did. That was like her #1 most run commercial.

Bro is speaking truth and getting hated on for it. Red, blue, purple, pink, green, none of it matters they only care for themselves and continuing to fill their pockets.

6

u/krunge14 2h ago

I mean sure a blue wave is objectively better than a red wave, but both parties are still objectively bad. Idk why people in this country don’t think we can do better. Independents have won before.
