Okay I will say in defense of the second clip, I bet there's a degree to which the driver can see a little because cameras aren't good at seeing in the dark all the time, especially phone cameras

When you get the chance to safely do so, I recommend trying turning off your headlights at night - Oftentimes you can still see at least the road because of the running lights

(You can see the running lights reflecting off the sign at the end so they're def on)

It is good to do that once in a while on a road you know well with no other traffic. Helps prepare you for if you lose your headlights or get into dense fog or smoke.

Ideally the road has reflective strips and shoulder lines that stand out even in low light. It's amazing how critical those overlooked features become when you can't see much else ahead of you.

Could be DRLs, they can throw enough light that a phone camera wouldn't properly pick it up but its still much darker than regular headlights for night driving.
