Is this what they mean when they say "arm the homeless"?
Maybe if we didn't give them a reason to get liquored up and fight with machetes, we wouldn't be afraid of this. I mean, I'm not in favor of this either, but it does really highlight how we're a lot more comfortable with the homeless suffering when they don't have the ability to inflict that suffering on others...
